Dude, I don't think you realize how bad MSU is, this was an abomination, and the exact reason why they should never schedule the Bears again.

Lol we promote our defensive coordinator to HC and our offense vastly improves while the defense goes to shite. Makes sense. There's absolutely no excuse to come out and give up 35 points in the first half to one of the worst FCS programs in the country.

The play that pissed me off the most was when we had them in 3rd and like 24 and we give up a wide open pass that goes 89 yards for a touchdown COMING OFF A TIMEOUT THAT WE CALLED. WTF

They are probably the worst offense we will face all year.

Just be patient! You had a ton of kids on defense that had never been on the field in a game before, or had been out there very little! They made adjustments at halftime, and shut down MSU to 100 yards in the 2nd half.

Am I happy with the defense? Of course not! But it is the 1st game, and personnel and adjustments will be made! And yes, when you run an attack style defense, you are susceptible to draw plays, misdirection plays etc....especially with young players! They keep looking in the backfield, trying to make a huge play, and....zip...they get burned big time! They'll get it worked out!

I guarantee you 1 thing....BO knows more about these kids, and defense than anybody on this board! Combined!

I don't have to be able to coach it to see it on TV and tell you it was absolute dog crap today. Even the 2nd half. We can thank MSU for not making throws or not making catches but not due to anything we did.

That's not to say they can't improve in time but that was the worst defense I can remember since I don't know when.

Does BO know more than us? I would hope so or Sterk hired the wrong person.
Does that mean BO knows enough to be running an SEC football program? Time will tell.

Got to remember that Sterk inherited BO from that other dude. Odom better hope he knows more than us, because Sterk is one of us when it comes to that hire.

500 yards a game given up last year. 500 given up today.

Polish the turd all day long it still smells like shite. Mo State wasn't doing anything fancy at all. Big play after big play.

Odom sucks. Make Huepel coach I guess and get a real D-mind. Cross and Barry have no clue.

Id be impressed if the SC game wasn't in the 60s for each team.

I believe the SEC Network halftime guys called it "80 year old plays".

This team is a joke.

This has been Miz's problem since at least 2013 and the Auburn game and they need a coach that can work this out. BO at least tried last year and the D (and the fans) rebelled. And they don't have the players they had in 2013. They used to get burned by Auburn, now they are getting burned by MooSt. And everyone else.

They have to get the middle of the D figured out and find someone besides Acy at corner to even have a chance to struggle to reach .500. I'm not looking at a single SEC game we have a chance to win right now.

It's probably way past time to name our selves 'We don't stay in our lane U'

You're on tilt right now. Outside of Auburn I wasnt impressed with anyone on our schedules play today.

USC had a lot of yards put on them, Kentucky barely beat Southern Miss, UGA lost Eason, Florida has ZERO offense, and Vanderbilt didn't blow put MTSU.

The doom and gloom around the defense is real, but our offense will keep us in games this year.

I'm not really sure about the offense. I'll have my doubts until Lock and the receivers prove they can compete against even average SEC defenses. Crockett was the only player to show up last year in games that actually mattered.

The good thing is that SC's and Kentucky's defense doesn't look great, Georgia might be without Eason for the Mizzou game, and Florida doesn't seem to have an offense.

IMO we just have to hope Lock grew up big time, makes much better decisions than last year, and hopefully can get us to a bowl game. He avoided pressure and rolled out today only to throw into triple coverage for his only INT of the game. I question how many times he's going to make decisions like that again when Mizzou is down and facing FBS talent.

Chizik touched on it but the second level of the defense looked like they hadn't diagrammed a single running play their opponent might run. They got to their gaps but they were getting kicked out because their fits weren't right. That is on Cross.

I agree with that, and glad Chizik can recognize what others on here have no clue about! The secondary was caught looking in the backfield instead of reading their keys. When that happens, you will get torched by misdirection and draw plays, and that's exactly what happened.
Now, I'm just as concerned about our defense as anybody, but Cross needs to go! He's the D.C., and what all of us saw on Saturday ain't going to cut it! The linebackers and secondary seemed lost. That's on .Cross for not having them ready to play! Odom needs to take over the defense completely, and get .Cross out of there!
