100 Percent on the Kim Anderson Train. We shouldn't be focused on homerun hire

He's a winner, he's mature, he's a native son, if hired he would retire a Mizzou Tiger, and I guarantee that he would win at least the first round game in the NCAA tournament.
He'd be the second coming of Norm Stewart. Plus, he probably has at least 10 years of coaching left in him which is plenty of time to re-establish Mizzou as a respectable program that isn't meant to be a stepping stone.
Why not give that guy a chance?
Alden shouldn't be thinking of a homerun hire...he should be thinking of hiring a person that people in Missouri embrace immediately. Very few people would fault Alden for hiring a guy who just won the DII National Championship, a guy that is LOVED in the state of Missouri, a guy that was an assistant coach on Norm's team.
Jesus, this should be a no brainer. Don't go for the "homerun hire". Go for winning over the fans with their idea of a "homerun hire".
I guarantee you Kim Anderson would sellout the arena. That's what we need to focus on at this point. Get the people in the seats again, give them someone to cheer for, and then the players will take notice and play their hearts out for the roaring crowd.
But, mark my words...Alden will frick this up.

I don't know killz. 10 years ago? Maybe. He's almost 60. I don't know if he has 10 years left in him or not at this point. I do agree, he would probably galvanize a larger portion of the fan base than any other hire and I think he'd do things the right way. Just not sure given his age.

He would galvanize the wrong part of the fan base. IMHO

So you wouldn't even give the guy 5 years? That's a terrible way to treat a native son who is a proven winner...a BIG winner.
Do you actually think that Mizzou can do better? Who?
If we throw out 3 million to an unproven socalled "homerun hire", won't we have to consider giving Pinkel a large raise as well? Pinkel's proven himself time and time again at Mizzou and has had to earn his pay.
What would Pinkel think of Mizzou throwing out stupid cash for a homerun hire who hasn't proven himself at Mizzou in a sport that doesn't generate nearly the amount of money as football.
come on, guys. Let's be realistic here.

Why do you think Mizzou owes him anything?

50% of the fan base (minimum) would say "who?" when you hired him.
I would guess that when Alden got his people around the table to start sorting through candidates that somewhere within 2 minutes he said something along the lines of "the first person who says Kim Anderson gets choked out."

Than the coach of Warrensburg Community College? If that is the case then we have bigger issues.

Can we get Norm on board as an adviser role for screening potential hires? Used to talk to that guy at the country club all the time - just as high quality of a person as you could meet.

When we hired Quinn the strong rumors were AD wanted Self and Kroenke stiff armed in Quinn.
Haith seemed to be a Alden decision made in 10 minutes in a hotel room.
BTW
So Anderson is 58. He could coach for 20 years if he wanted to. Maybe he is Spurrier.

Having Norm and Sunvold as advisors would be a great move. Not sure I'm all aboard the Kim Anderson train though. I'm concerned about that being a step back to a previous generation. And that would not be a hire exciting enough to retain recruits, IMO.

That, my dear MIZ_COU, is the question. I do not have the answer.

You don't think a DII National Championship winning coach can potentially convince recruits to play for him at a much larger well known basketball school?
Or are we officially a football school now?!!!!

Current recruits? Probably not. He's a 58 year old white guy.

the old white guys win championships.

Do you really think this would be the homerun hire everyone wants, Im not sure he could recruit on a high enuff leval.

I'm not sure about KA.
He seems like just the kind of hire Missouri might need at this point. We've gone every other route since Norm left. Maybe it's time to go back to the roots.
However, I think CBB has changed so much, that you almost have to make a splash hire to stay relevant among recruits. The landscape is completely different now.
And yes, I think we are a football school now. Something I never thought I'd ever see, but I think it's pretty obvious whose driving the bus now.
