Yarber, Lumumba headed to runoff for Jackson mayor

Tony Yarber

Chokwe Antar Lumumba

quote:

Complete, but unofficial, returns from yesterday’s election show only 10 votes separate the two. Affidavit and absentee ballots are still to be counted.

quote:

City Council member Tony Yarber and Chokwe Antar Lumumba, son of the late Mayor Chokwe Lumumba, will be in an April 22 runoff to see who will become Jackson’s next mayor.

Discuss.

Holy shite, I drove across it this AM in Flowood. I have been in Jackson 9 years now and I think this is the highest I have seen it.

Highest in 11 years. You should see the spillway. It's about 3 foot from the top of those pavilions down there.

I liked Priester but I like Yarber out of those two.

Speaking of Jackson, as I was typing, a guy stopped his bike while going down the sidewalk and took a pull from a 40 and took back off.

Living in Memphis, actions like these don't even phase me.

Would seem like the obvious choice but who the frick knows what's going on in the heads of city limits Jackson residents.

Yarber should win. I really thought it'd come down to him and Priester but I think Priester waited to long to get his commercials and billboards out there.

I've been seeing Yarber commercials since two days after Lumumba's death. Saw my first Priester commercial about a week ago.

Well, it might have to be next weekend. I start my pediatrics rotation next week and I have not gotten my schedule yet, so I am not sure when I will be free during the week.

We can only hope.

I mean it's shite like this that makes me loath the State that I also love. I wish that more people that graduate from our larger universities would stay in state but at the same time I understand why they don't.

Even if they did it wouldn't effect Jackson that much TBH. Nobody that actually pays taxes actually wants to live there. Hinds County has AIDS.

If I stay here for residency and end up staying in this area, we have decided to move to Madison or Rankin Co, although we have enjoyed the Belhaven area.

So does anyone want to touch the fact of what actually makes Jackson so shitty? I mean we all know the answer here.

I live in Belhaven as well, and it's been great.

Is nice. I lived in Ridgeland until last year and that was ok as well, but I really like Rankin Co.. Their Courthouse is night and day from Hinds.
