While I certainly appreciate the time and effort coach has given MSU it is time for a change. This is inexcusable and a fricking joke. John Cohens failure is truly complete now.

I posted this on tRant but I'd think you have to give the guy who won the first natty in your school's history in any sport 3 years minimum. That said, there's no excuse for how bad State has looked ever since Sims went down last year so it's really hard to justify keeping him. I think he gets one more year to make staff adjustments ultimately but we will see how this year plays out.

Not sure what you do with Foxhall if you give Lemonis another year. If you were a pitching coach would you go somewhere that you might only be a year? If you were a recruit, would you go somewhere that the coach might be gone in a year? Unless I was a fan of that school I wouldn't.

I hope they turn it around, but I don't think the "give them another year" is valid for any sport with things the way they are not in college sports.

It’s thinking like this that made our athletic dept a joke prior to 2009

If we miss the tourney and are the laughing stock of the west again for 3 straight years then yeah it’s time.

I’m just concerned he has put us into a hole that will take a long time to dig out even with transfers

I just don't think this is the case anymore. If State is as dedicated to baseball NIL as they are their baseball program, this should be a non-issue with the transfer portal.

I would hope so. Sadly, playing in a great park/environment isn’t incentive enough to get good players to come and stay. That’s the part about NIL I don’t like, it has diluted the grandeur of playing the game with the perversion of incentivizing through money.

Side note:

When I read Grisham’s description of the Lounge, I feel that every year we are moving farther away from the game and more into the business side of things.

I know winning is winning but how many more years do we have of players staying and playing more than a year? I mean you would think Lemonis would be an instant legend of a coach for the NC but people would rather have the long tenure of success. (I think with him we also knew those players on that team were special and had a lot to do with it)

People will remember players like the Mayor, Renfroe, and Macnamee and love them for their work, dedication, and success even if they fell short of winning it all. Are we heading to where we never have those legacy players due to the amount of transfers? Is this making the sport “better?”

Just something to think about. Hail State and here’s to a better 2024 baseball season.
