But there is merit to wanting him fired at this point haha

Of course, but there is long term merit to not having a quick trigger. If you fire Sirmon after one year, you are not going to get anyone of any consequence to take the job. Saban can afford a quick hook. Mullen cannot.

Also I think the pickings are slim finding a DC this year. It's been a bad year for trying to find any coach IMO.

Offenses are making a lot of defenses look bad. A lot of DC's are getting the axe because the HC is not going to take the blame. There are not a lot of high quality guys available. The good one are having to re-learn everything that they know to compete in this new world.
I had this problem in the late 80's. The world was full of COBOL and FORTRAN programmers, and I needed guys with C and C++ experience. (That's your technology reference for the day.)

I feel like yalls defense will just get better from this year kind of like ours. I feel like this was rock bottom for our defense this year and there has to be no other direction but up. How far up is the deciding factor though.
