Johnny Zuppardo committed to the basketball program today.
He looks like a solid addition. He certainly helps with depth underneath.

Should make us 2-deep everywhere. Daniels was previously the only real 4 on roster IMO...

They say he can shoot the hell out of the ball too. Which we need sorely.
Posted on 4/16/14 at 11:02 am to DynastyDawg
yeah, he shot well over 40% from 3 this year in JUCO...

Yeah he looks pretty decent. Time for Ray to have a decent season, and improve recruiting a bit.

Oh yeah, this year is the year. No more excuses.
ETA: Did yall see his tweet the other day about hitting a homerun at a recruiting visit in Jackson?

Hopefully he is cutting a check to Malik.

He's letting Richard handle that...

Roq Johnson ????

More of a tweener IMO. He's kinda a 4 trapped in a 3's body. Maybe he can play the 3 and just hasn't had the chance yet. I don't know on that...
Roquez 6'6 210 -- while Daniels is 6'8 220 and Zuppardo is 6'9 230.
We'll have decent size inside for really the first time under Ray -- and depth for the first time...

I like him at the 3. In our offense, it will make it easier for him to post up against a smaller guy than he generally sees. If our 4's and 5's can draw their bigger players, it will make life much easier for Roq.

Good point
In instances where we're actively trying to pound people, he makes alot of sense.
I actually think he could be pretty dominant as a mostly inside 3, given the amount of experience he's had to get at the 4 and 5 over the past 2 years.

So this class coming in includes 4 players all 3*'s?
Posted on 4/16/14 at 12:07 pm to Allyn McKeen
I think he should probably play the 3 because of his size, but I'm not sure he has the ball handling skills to play the 3 on a consistent basis.
Posted on 4/16/14 at 12:23 pm to DynastyDawg
I think you just use him there in a big lineup...and in instances where you are grinding out the game or have a matchup advantage...
Certainly couldn't use him there against press teams very much...

You are contridicting yourself. Roq Johnson is an undersized 4 and doesn't have the skills possessed to play the 3 in the SEC like you stated he isn't a good ball handler and can't shoot very good from behind the arc. We have a kid coming in named Demetrius Houston who is a true 3 and Flat-top Freddy will also play the 3.
Roq will likely continue to be a sub who comes off providing hustle and garbage baskets and defending.

Really Bundy?
Translating my post for the mentally retarded, what I meant was that his size would normally dictate that he play the 3, but he doesn't possess that skill set.
Jesus Christ.

No reason whatsoever that Roq Johnson is the 3 in our offense EVER.
Flattop Freddy and Houston are both close to his size and height.
1- IJ,Blodman
2- Sword,Dunlap
3- Houston/FTF
4- Daniels/Zuppardo,Roq
5- Ware/Ndoye/Black
12 deep I can handle that
Jacolby Davis may or may not be back but he has't produced much at all for us and has been injury prone.
