Mehh...we never know much about our recruiting situation until the summer camps hit. Think we filled over 1/3 of our class in those couple of days last year. That said, I wish we would accept more commitments earlier -- it certainly is hurting perception right now...

THIS

And if Freeze continues his current pace for the 2014 class, it will be even better than this year's class. I wouldn't be surprised to see them sign more 4 and 5 star guys than three stars.

"Dominique Booth @D1Bound721
Coach G and Mullen showed me a good time #Hailstate"

He was on campus yesterday, and stayed overnight to watch practice today. Supposedly he has known Gonzales for a while, since he was recruiting him to Illinois.

Also at practice today were Aeris Williams, RB and Ladarius Gallion DT, both from West point. Also of note, OM commit CJ Hampton was there and 2016 ATH prospect Gabe Angel was there with his parents. He already has 4 SEC offers as a freshman.

Robert Washington and his cousin Aapari Washington both balled out at a camp in North Carolina was available to all players up to current juniors(2014 commits)

Juniors that were honored as top performers.
10
Sophomores
4
Freshman
1(Robert Washington)
8th Graders
1(Aapari Washington)

Robert Washington,
Southlake Christian, NC (2016) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpfrmAsfhEY
Official Size: 5-9, 190

Assets: The first thing that stands out about this young back is his lower body structure. His legs are like tree trunks ideal for making yards after contact. Washington has excellent change of direction and very good top end speed. He is also a threat in the passing game as he possesses soft hands. His day was one of the most consistent performances of any athlete in this camp which means he is a player you can count on at all times. In the end he earned Overall Freshman MVP.

Development: The biggest knock on this young athlete is his level of competition so hitting the camp circuit should quiet all doubters. This is an articulate high character kid that will have plenty of options when his high school career is over.

quote:

Aapri Washington,
Southlake Christian, NC (2017) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0_anuMSwfg Official Size: 5-7, 140

Assets: Every coach in the camp had Washington ranked in the top five out of a group of 20 defensive backs. The amazing thing about this is the fact he is still in junior high school. Washington has excellent technique and hips on a swivel. This young athlete also possesses very good ball skills. He may have been slightly intimidated early on in the camp but by the time two-on-twos came around he was in his own element. Washington earned the first ever Eighth Grade MVP award given out at a NUC Five-Star Showcase.

Development: The skill set and determination are there for him to have a stellar high school career. The biggest question is how big will he get and that won’t be answered for several years.

Both studs** Been calling that for awhile.

Hopefully, we manage to hold them without Brewster. I know they have family ties back to MSU, so I'm fairly optimistic. GOT to keep building on that teamUSA pipeline...

It will definitely be a battle. I'm glad Aapari has grown since the last time I read about him. Wanna say he was 5'3 at team USA. Hoping we can hold onto Washington and the WR, and manage to get Aapari after that. Some excellent talent there.

Got 4-5 more on teamUSA that are prettymuch waiting on offers to commit. I don't know the extent to which that hinged on Brewster though...

No it's not. I hear we are recruiting some guys that we think are ballers.

Meet Elijah Staley possibly our newest QB/SF

Two sport athlete from Georgia is a 4 star small forward and a rising 3 star QB who has been offered by Mississippi State in both sports and recently named us as his leader.

Hello, Elijiah, nice to meet you. I am Requiem For A Dawg.

Eta: hold on he's 6'6? No way our staff takes him way too tall to play QB at State.

Well, of course.

On the other hand, I hope Chris Kiffin doesn't follow Malysha Flanders because the kid has been tweeting about MS State all day. He's supposedly on campus for a visit. I don't really know anything about the kid, but IIRC, he's a WR. How many WR do y'all think we take this year?

He's from the 2013 class. He accepted a preferred walk-on spot from us. He had several offers from small colleges. I also think Illinois may have offered him.

OHH, I had forgotten about him. He's definitely a solid walk-on pickup.

So is he playing three sports?

I feel the opposite about De'Runnya on this one. I would love this guy for BBall, and while I'd like him on football, I wouldn't want him to take a scholarship, especially considering we're going to have a small class this year. I also want us to get a dedicated QB instead of dealing with with another two sport guy.

And speaking of basketball, I'm considering doing scholly numbers for basketball(for the next few years) and editing the op.

We recruited him in BB before we did in FB.. He would probably play both, but I am not sure about the scholly thing. We are the only school to offer in both so far.

He looks pretty good throwing the ball on film, FWIW, and he is also a legit dual-threat.
