The Florida game may be exactly what this team needs. It is a no pressure game.

I thought they'd be up for this game, too. Nothing at all seems to be motivating them. I wouldn't even apply the word team to them. This is the second year in a row that there seems to be a toxic chemistry with the players and Coach Cal.

I wonder if he reached the pinnacle of his career in 2012 and isn't capable (interested?) anymore in coaching young men to their maximum capabilities? I sure hope he has something left. We've got another awesome freshman class coming in next season.

You never know with freshmen, that's the risk you take. I think this year he brought in Hawkins and Willis because he knew they were long termers, and with WCS and Poythress back, you assumed this team had what it needed.
Never recovered from the loss to MSU early, and just has seemed disinterested the last month or so. Not sure why.

I was in the Bahamas this weekend at the sports book. I went to the window to bet the UK FLA game. Game was FLA -8.5 and that is where my money went. Then up was UL -9 on UCONN, thats where my money went, and then Duke -8.5 and thats where my money went. I picked 4 teams that I dislike and made a killing that day. Best I've felt in a long time. So I guess it is official, I don't think this team has the slightest chance of winning the SEC or NCAA tournament. I've turned the page. I suggest you all do the same.

For the first time this season, I saw guys smiling on the court while playing. That's a good sign. I'll have to see it a time or two more before I get really excited

You know, I just wonder if it's possible that these guys can put together a 6 game run in the NCAA's. I know the talent is there, and if they will just relax and play, this season could still end well. It all starts tomorrow.

Apparently the Harrison's got a visit from their dad this past week

LINK

quote:

“What I told him was, ‘Son, me and your mother, we’re in a fine financial situation. It’s not like you have to go,” Aaron Sr. said by telephone on Saturday night. “If it doesn’t work out, we’ve got next year, the year after that or the year after that. …There’s no pressure for you to go. And I don’t know where he got that in his mind, that pressure. I told him not to worry about it. Relax and have fun.”

quote:

Aaron Sr. spent four days in Lexington during his recent visit. Most mornings and nights, he went to UK’s practice facility with his sons. He wasn’t there to coach. He was just there to rebound their jump shots and be a sounding board and to “tell them things I’ve been telling them since they were 4.”

Watching a lot of this NCAA tourney coverage and they should record some of this stuff for the team to use for motivation.

Yeah, this team might still have a run in them. They played overall I think their best 40 minutes of the season yesterday. And with 4 days to rest to get ready for UL, should be an epic game.
