Commonwealth is downsizing during the renovation and I think that is a smart move.

If they could hold 70K and now they will hold about 60K yet they are spending over 100 million, not sure it is a smart move. Lets say you take away 5,000 seats x 7 home games x 50 bucks per ticket = almost 2 million less per year. That money has to be raised somewhere else because UK is not going to spend less every year. This will put upward pressure on pricing for remaining seats which can result in declining demand.

In addition to the 2 million per year loss you have to amortize back in the cost of the 120 million in improvements and you will get a jump up in cost for fewer potential revenue streams (you know, the actual fans who pay for all this from shrinking wallets) and it has all the appearances of a major train wreck in 5-10 years. As some of the TAMU fans on here about Baylor and their tarp which should only get worse with a new stadium to pay off and no normal fans to buy the tickets.

In the chase for all these corporate dollars the college programs - not just UK - have forgotten the value of the "average" fan. Look only at the horse business when the stopped marketing to the 2 dollar bettor in favor of the really rich folks. They killed off the next generation of horse racing fans and the sport has suffered since those kids started entering their 30's in the late 80's and early 90's.
