quote:

"It's fun to just have freedom at quarterback, which is something I didn't have a whole lot of at Florida," the ex-Gator said on ESPN's Campus Conversation podcast, according to Thomas Goldkamp of 247 Sports.

"(Offensive coordinator Jake Spavital) gives me a lot of freedom. He gives me a lot of different options on every play and a lot of freedom to be able to check plays if we're not getting a good look."

Yup, he would’ve been a superstar had he stayed here.

Now that the “if Grier was still here...” excuse has officially been debunked, what else can we say to defend Nuss and Mac?

Makes you wonder how much Frank's game is being harmed by this staff. Every QB has looked the exact same in this system.

Whoa, a Redshirt Freshman quarterback wasn't given the freedom to go wild in a system they had learned over the Summer because an entirely new coaching staff came in.

Color me shocked, as a redshirt junior he has more freedom than when he had as a redshirt freshman in an Air Raid system.

Is this really anything other than him having sour grapes over not being forgiven for taking PEDs and costing us a few seasons of bad quarterbacks?

This is one of the stupidest criticsms around, and I think it's obvious that he would have more freedom as a junior than a freshman.

Air raid Offense makes all QBs look good??
Luke Falk, Graham Harrell , Kinsgury ect were walk ons

If Grier didnt look good is be worried.

So hes saying Mac n Nuss wouldnt let a Freshman QB on a team of other players all learning a new offense together change plays?? Go look for yourself, Grier only looked decent in 2 games. 1 was a cupcake. 2 teams that held him in check only won 5 games that season.

Grier is where he should be...a second rate school playing in defense is optional conference big/little 12. Look at WVs defense and how they allow aboutt 600 yds of offense to Texas Tech.

It is an air raid offense and theres a reason those schools have shitty defenses. Why doesn't it work in the SEC? Look at Ole Miss for proof. Throws a lot and cant run well coupled with crap defense.....no thanks...Ole Miss did not have to ban themselves from a bowl...they couldn't make one anyway. Look at UK back in the mid 1990s when Hall Mummee(sp) was HC...they tried to do an air raid offense and I remember we killed them one year and scored 70 on their arse.

WVU doesn't run an air raid offense. It is a spread option attack coupled with an aggressive downfield passing attack. Go look at their stats, they run the ball almost as much as they pass.

Its a lot different being a redshirt junior quarterback from being a redshirt freshman quarterback.

frick Will grier. He fricked our program by taking PEDs and then ran off like a little bitch because he wasn't guaranteed a starting job when he got back from his frick up.

frick him.

Leach Coaching tree all the way. May not be AR in its purest form as many of the coaches are adding wrinkles here n there but at its base its passing game is still AR principles. I actually like their version the most because they added a ground game to keep defenses off balance. I threw out Jake Spivitals name as a possible HC candidate for this reason. Plus i doubt we could get Leach so he's like a cheaper version :)

He didn't frick the program Mac did by shoving him out the door for ldr. Yeah Grier fricked up and he did his time. Meanwhile AC81 and Scarlett and wells are fricking up all over and not one fricking peep from you Mac knob gobblers about them not being gone except as an excuse to not blame Mac.

he wanted a guarantee he'd have his job when he came back. NO HC in football would give that promise after he fkd this team into suffering a yr with Treon at QB. So fk that pu$$y who was afraid of having to EARN his job back.

Wrong. Even lard was backed off that claim when a reporter pressed him. Mac lied to save his arse.

What limited him more was his use of a PED.

Definitely can't change the play from the sideline after you've received a year-long ban.

Leaving the team was the best thing for him and it maybe for Franks too. LDR is the only QBR that clearly is better off here . For some reason young QBs don’t get the offense and Mac refuses to change it to fit their style and experience.

Air raid offenses can only be classified as air raid based strictly off the ratio of passes to runs. 80% of passes and above then it's air raid. They don't run any routes that aren't in a normal passing attack. They just have a lot more smash and mesh concepts and more passes to the running backs.

I think this is splitting hairs, man.

quote:

The Scheme is notable for being very pass centric with as many as 65–75% of the calls during a season being a pass play. A large reason is due to the control that is placed on the QB who has the freedom to audible to any play based on what the defense is showing him at the line of scrimmage. In at least one instance, as a result of the QB's ability to audible, as many as 90%[1] of the run plays called in a season were audibled to at the line of scrimmage. Another factor in this offense is the inclusion of the no huddle. The QB and the offense race up to the line of scrimmage, diagnose what the defense is showing, and then snap the ball based on the QB's play call. This not only allows a team to come back if they are down a lot as seen in the 2006 Insight Bowl[2] but it also allows them to tire out the defense and allow for bigger runs and bigger pass completions. The fast pace limits the defense's ability to substitute players and adjust their scheme. The hurried pace can cause defensive mental mistakes such as missed assignments or being out of position.

Mike Leach has spotters up in the box, usually his Inside WRs Coach. He looks at the leverage of the defense and how they react to prior plays, theyll pass on to Mike what routes they are trying to jump and Mike will show a similiar look then alter the route to take advantage. The QB is counting defenders splitting the Centers butt in half. If one side has more defenders they go to the weakside.

All in his book. Swing your sword
