Putting on my orange and blue glasses:

I’ll say it was first game jitters against the pac12 champions on the road in a hostile environment at a high altitude.

Yep. Billy had said in a press conference that the team was good, but that they have a bunch of younger/new players that lack a sense of urgency (when it comes to playing big boy football in the SEC, especially at Florida).

I think Napier and his coaches lacked that sense of urgency too.

I'm hoping this was rock bottom, and they all needed to be punched in the face with subsequent national media embarrassment to get their act together.

This is who Napier is.
It won't get much better.

I remember Fsu fans saying the same thing about Norvell

Look at where they are at now.

So maybe this year will be 5-6 wins but let's see where we are in 2024 with Lagway in the QB room. And see if Napier makes any changes on the coaching staff which there will be some turnover or firings.

But if the offense stays like it is it will be more then completely obvious that Napier will need to bring in a real OC

Clemson has had way more red zone problems than Florida had. Wow, they can not keep the ball in their hands when they get down there

Clemson losing that game may have forced FSU to go undefeated to get in the playoff. There isn't many nice wins to get on their schedule.

Norvell knows offense and how to work the poral.
Napier does not.

Better hope he can keep Lagway.

Napier has had some success in the portal. you are right about the offense. Norvell has the advantage of a pretty dang good, Senior QB that makes things happen.

Napier has admitted that the team is going through the material for the second time (season). Players learning it, coaches teaching it. So I guess we have to deal with the ups and downs from both sides.

If it wasn't clear to him before, I'm sure he now knows he's under a microscope with less and less room for error.

It's fine to be critical, but let's watch the season play out. The more rational people in charge of his faith will look at the season as a whole. We should do the same, especially keeping in mind that the outlook on the season wasn't that stellar to begin with.

I'm not a win or loss guy, I just expect to see improvement.
What I saw Thursday was the same issues we had last year.
That concerns me. Year two most say, should be a leap forward from year one. It's early, but so far not seeing it. I will not give up on the team or coaches, Go Gators.

Yeah I agree that's the most critical issue right now: the lack of improvement. Last year we were ready to crown him king after the Utah game. This year he's getting fired on the tarmac.

Truth is, his coaching prowess on the big stage is probably somewhere in the middle. Unfortunately for him that's not enough to stay at UF.

But like you said, it's still early.

We’re still paying the last 2, Billy ain’t going anywhere barring a collapse of epic proportions

He would literally have to get caught humping a shark, for real, attend a post-game interview in something worse than a Darth Vader costume or threatening to kick a whole fraternity's arse. It's not happening. Anyone saying that it might happen is just hurting the program. Napier is our coach for foreseeable future, we need to support him and offer some advise when needed.

I think his overall coaching could be very good if he relinquished OC/play calling duties.

He needs to focus on being a CEO-type HC.

His play calling is average at best, and he might be able to do that and be the CEO in the sun belt, but I think it's too much in the SEC.

If he were a brilliant offensive mind, he'd be able to get away with it, but as I mentioned, he's just average at it at best.

He needs to focus on his strengths (organization building and, ideally, delegating) and I think he might work out.
