I could only stomach a few series and then took a shower and came back to watch 1 series in the third qt.

First series: ball at 25 yd line and these plays were scripted by the coaching staff btw...worked well until we get downfield and although Mac tried to call a time out, Franks didn't know the clock was down to zero, 5 yd penalty and a 3rd and 8 turns into third and 13 when Franks throws incomplete. Result...Fast Eddie kicks FG 3-0.

Second series: Powell lets punt go by him and we lose about 12-15 yds because of it. He has had a knack lately of letting punts sail by him or doesn't catch the ball. The result? We start out at 15 yd line and it goes downhill from there...Franks goes out of bounds and now we are at the 11 yd line...a run gets those 4 yds back and an incomplete pass makes us punt. Their confidence shoots up. Result? An Aggie FG.

After shower, third qt and I watch poor field position and Aggie gets ball in great field position...we were leading 10-3, but they score on QB keeper and tie it up. Crowd get quieter...basically the game is over mentally.

Special teams cost us again along with inability to make third downs. We are probably last in SEC in return yardage and even though we had time of possession, 100 more yds of offense...each team with 1 turnover (last one doesn't count...it was panic time with less than a minute to play)...we lose and return yardage figures in along with 3rd down conversions. I turned TV off with 11 minutes left in 3rd qt.

This is a poorly coached team. QB doesn't know to throw the ball away - this is NOT the first QB that UF has had the last 3 years with that problem. Appleby and LDR struggled with that as well.

Special teams, especially the coverage units and the punt returner, are a constant source of frustration. Mistakes in special teams have KILLED Florida the last two weeks, probably even more this week than last week. It is probably the most poorly coached unit on the team, and that is saying something when you consider how badly the QB's are coached up.

i agree that these are the poorest squads on the team. other than having a great Kicker and Punter they are under performing terribly. Complete revamping of special teams is needed. Kick returner needs to be told to take a knee when the ball is in the end zone. Punt returner needs to be told to catch the ball. We are constantly put in poor field position due to errors by returners. Also, what happened to attempting to block a punt? We play for return, don't block and the returner let's the ball bounce for 10-20.

Maybe has some to do with starters also playing special teams due to suspensions?

Special teams calls are super conservative. Lets get it over with seems to be norm instead of looking for an advantage.

3rd n 5 first drive of 2nd half. That was a first down.

Terrible spot

We have had decent special teams play until this year and whether the suspensions have hurt...I dunno.

But I do know we aren't blocking well on punts and kick returns.

Townsend had a punt go 28 yds, uncharacteristic of him..but it led to Aggie score. The last two losses were very close and frustrating that we couldn't close the deal. Along with STs, the inability to convert 3rd downs killed us. Franks has been coached up...and witness the very first drive of the game that had scripted calls, we went right down the field until he has brain cramp and gets a delay of game penalty...and Mac did try to get a timeout once he saw Franks not looking at the damn clock.

Its little things that haven't gone our way.

Kick returns have been complete dog shite during the Mac era. Punt returns have been 90% fair catches and no block punts. Harden was missing field goals more than he made them.

Flaming bag of dog shite.

Easily the worst called game I've seen in a while -- even the no calls on interference were just so bad. Even if Franks was successful in throwing a decent ball their defensive backs were all over our receivers.

Rewatching the game -- one thing I really don't like about McElwain is that he didn't/doesn't go for it on fourth and one.

I don't mind taking those chances, especially when our defense is young and doesn't have the gas tank anyway. I would be less critical if he were more aggressive -- although I think the people who don't like him wouldn't excuse it.

It doesn't really matter all that much, but something that really pissed me off was that at 17-16, TAMU lines up for a FG and UF goes FG safe. They don't even send everyone to try to block it.

Why? Why not sell out? You're THAT afraid of a fake on a GW FG attempt from medium range?

frick, man, three more plays does matter. It matters a whole lot in regards to time (especially at the end of the game) but keeping our young, depthless defense off the field.

After watching Miles fail his way to wins, I can't blame him for that one.

Conceed the 3 rather than rush a fake for 6

I dint have a problem with it in that situation.

Outside of his friendship with the HC, it is hard to find a reason why this guy is still employed at UF. He's been a weakness from the start and nothing has been done.

Sorry Straw - I meant the one play that I just mentioned - not selling out on the FG, probably didn't matter all that much.

Ah, sorry man. Yeah, Florida has lost way too many times to stupid fakes, and I kind of understand the ''make them execute'' in that situation.

The 4th and 1s though...

I was just so accustomed to this ''frick everyone, we'll do what we want'' go for it on 4th and 3 shite that Meyer used to do.

I get why he did it, but my beef is that we literally had nothing to lose against A&M. We already dropped the LSU game, lost to Michigan -- we're not going to the Playoffs.

Act like you got a pair, put faith in your offense even without its players we should still be able to get a yard.

Two things, first Straw I disagree....Mac has gone for first downs on fourth and short many times this year. If it backfires then you hand the other team good field position unless you are at their 20 yd line. Second, Slayer, that was a 47 yd FG attempt...not a medium range kick for anyone and Mac wanted to make sure they didn't fake the kick. Its perfectly understandable in my eyes.
