The arms race is never ending and it sometimes seems like Foley has no interest in entering that race.

I know we are OK with football but when you look at the SEC competition we are not top 3 or perhaps even top 4 IMO.

Basketball: The Odome is going to get a much needed reno but is that enough for all Billy has done for UF?

Baseball: The recent "upgrades" to McKeethan were the epitome of lipstick on a pig.

Track: Old
Swimming: old
Lacrosse: Nice and new
Gymnastics: Their facility is very nice

It just seems like with the new SEC deal and the money we generate already that we never set the standard. I remember hearing Foley say that UF is elite enough to not need to keep up with the competition. Don't get me wrong, I love the swamp and actually like the O'dome OK but aren't we lagging pretty far behind?

I'd like to see baseball get a brand new shiny stadium and gamble that it would increase interest. I'd like to see basketball get UK style dorms. I'd like to blow up the O'dome and build an awesome venue. IPF anyone? :ducksforcover: but we will be the last school to not have one.

It's a pipe dream I know but do you have any other thoughts on where we should improve?

By the way, since we don't spend much cash, where is it all?

Our facilities are pretty shitty. I agree that the O'Dome just needs to get torn down and built back from scratch. Simply renovating it is a waste of money imo. Baseball doesn't deserve any upgrades, our fans are too shitty & non-existent. Track/soccer definitely needs an upgrade. IPF is necessary (I would think) with all the lightning & thunderstorms we get in Florida year round. Why waste even 2 hours of practice time annually if we don't have to? I don't care if the IPF has to replace the tennis complex or get built all the way across town.

UF has a really good, top of the line, weight training complex that was built in 2008.

I know they re-did the locker rooms and expanded the stadium in the last 5 years.

Foley has always been not a fan of an IPF.

They're about to spend a bunch of money on the Odome...

I feel like this is really blown out of proportion by people in the fan base. Why spend money if you don't have to?

I agree. I'm sure stuff will be done here and there.

My biggest issue is the athletes living situation.

The athletic apartments are the same ones I lived in in 1993 with no renovations. They weren't nice in 1993 and in 2014 it is ridiculous! The coaches constantly complain about them for recruiting. It's sorry to say but they are at the bottom in the SEC with living arrangements.

I agree. No excuse for UF in regards to that. The funding is there.

The athletic dorms are terrible. Kinda sad we will be the last team without an IPF. I read an article in 2007 about how 9 practices were canceled because of lightning. You are losing way to many snaps in practice if the weather is not going your way.

Don't really care about the indoor practice facility. In my four years we didn't miss 10 practices in 4 years. To me , the more glaring need is the living arrangements.

I always thought the athletes were out at the newer dorms 2000ish the Rec center near 34th. That is where all the UF athletes I know stayed.
However that is about 13 years old.

You would know better than me where the current UF athletes are staying.

What is your opinion on the office of Student Life that Foley is always talking about?

The office of student life is dated and that's why they are redoing it. There are 2 places where football players lived. Yes I stayed out on 34th St my junior year and I stayed at Flivet ( excuse my spelling) my sophomore year. Flivet is right by the training table, the track, and Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. It should be torn down and re done.

I'm starting to see the light and I agree. I guess it's good that Foley is stingy cause we could end up like UT with their former AD running them into debt. BUT...the school benefits with better facilities.

We could end up profiting from baseball if they improve gameday experience so people actually want to go. At least get some shade out there.
