After starting at quarterback and playing the entire game against Kentucky on Saturday night, the natural assumption is that redshirt freshman Will Grier is now Florida's full-time starting quarterback.

Not so fast. There's a chance the Gators will be going back to playing two quarterbacks against Tennessee, Florida coach Jim McElwain said Monday.

“Obviously, Will went the whole game, and don't read anything into that as far as how this goes this week,” McElwain said. “We'll decide as we move forward. That's something we'll talk about as we go. I wouldn't look into that more than we were kind of in the flow there a little bit.”
McElwain was asked Monday if he is still undecided on the quarterbacks.

“Yeah, we're going to play the way we play it,” he said. “We just felt like in the last game … Treon, we had some opportunities where maybe we should have put him in. That's the way it goes. We kind of get a feel for it and that's what we talked about, and yet there are some things we've really got to work on at that position.”

In his first complete game, Grier completed 13 of 22 passes for 125 yards and also ran for 61 yards and a touchdown. He threw a critical interception in the end zone in the third quarter when it appeared the Gators were taking command of the game with a chance to go up 21-3.

“Just OK,” McElwain said, when asked to assess Grier's overall play in the 14-9 victory.

Could be truth, or could just be trying to make Tennessee prepare against two quarterbacks.

Wouldn't surprise me to see 2 QBs. Grier is going to get killed if he keeps scrambling like that.

I think this is coach speak.

If Grier is healthy and not hurt from the UK game, he will play the whole game unless he is terrible.

Grier did not play that well and we cannot afford turnovers anyway with the meat of our schedule coming. Mac was quick to point out Grier took off a few times running instead of be patient.

I do not want QB to have happy feet.

Well looks like Harris made this decision real easy for Mac

I'd be surprised if he comes back next year, because he might not do too much from hereon out unless Grier sucks.

Grier has played better on the field, and has less off-field incidents. Gonna be hard to make a switch at this point.

Dont forget the I word...if something bad happens to Grier we will be wishing Treon was around. 2013 was a nightmare.

Hopin' everything is okay with you, since we're both up late at night.

With Grier and Florida football: We need less people like Treon and even Tabor. I'm tired of fanbases calling us dirty, I'm tired of seeing the stupidest penalties. I'm tired of seeing thugs on our team.

At least we're taking care of it. At least there won't be any more moronic throat slashes (I guarantee it) and I can also guarantee that Treon feels this for at least two to three games.

Tabor maybe not, but Treon means too much to the team to be doing dumb stuff like this before a big game like Tennessee.

Assessment of Grier vs UK

I'm worried about whether or not uF can actually score this week...

Our running backs will determine what happens moreso than the quarterback play I think.

If Grier has to do all the work with his legs (again), it'll be another dark day for the offense.

If the coaching staff know this suspension was coming, it would explain why Grier went the entire game last week. I think this may be the final straw for Harris. When your QB makes bad decisions off the field, you can't count on him when he is on the field. Time to move on.

That's exactly what I was saying earlier. It's not just that he's a QB, it's that he's a potential starter when we're already thin as a thread at QB and he's making bonehead decisions like this.

I'd rather play a bad quarterback and lose than play a good one with selfish actions like that.

Although, he wasn't that great of a quarterback yet to begin with.

I wouldn't be

Vols have put together some amazing recruiting classes, but they have not yet "learned to win"

The streak you have against them is in their heads

if it comes down to being a tight game late in the 4th, my money is on them finding a way to lose

Be a really empty locker room if you take all the ones who smoke pot out of the equation.

We seem to only have two who can't pass their drug test. If your future matters, if your team matters and you know it puts you out -- don't be an idiot.

I knew the same when I was in the military, and then when I was a contractor. My future wasn't worth a little bit of fun.
