The crap I hear about Leach is sickening from pimple faced kids who don't know squat about football.

Its always the same...offense struggles and the rant clamors for Leach to be their new HC. Geez Louise they have no clue. Sure its exciting to see tons of offense but then your team loses after giving up a gazillion points cause you don't play defense.

UCLA beat Washing Board State 67-63 after the pirate's team gave up a mountain of points late. I think winning is pretty exciting myself.

He has never been at a program that can attract too flight defensive talent.

Bro he takes sub par programs and makes them competitive. You do know OU runs the Air Raid right? I mean it's doing well for them I'd say.

He is great at getting the best out of mid level programs. Petrino is the same way and he did great at Arkansas.

This is one of your dumber takes.

Air Raid absolutely works in the same way Army's Triple Option works. You use scheme instead of talent to win.

Washington State will drop games like that, but they've also had very much success. Washington State was tied for first in the PAC-12 last year and at Texas Tech he had nearly double the wins that he had losses.

The dude knows how to build a program and you are once again showing just how ignorant you are regarding football.

The air raid will only wear out your defense...period. It keeps putting them on the field. Wash board State would get their doors blown off by at least 7-8 teams in the SEC.

That's bull crap Straws...I am ignorant of football? You are eyes of brown missy.

OU plays where? In the weakass little 12 conference. They do have a slight pulse on defense....because they recruit well. WSU puts all its eggs in the offensive basket.

You let a winless team come to your house and come from behind 32 points down in the 3rd qt. Yep, he is a great coach and he tried to do that at UK when Hall Mumme was HC, I think we put 72 points on them?

This is a false common misconception. Leach can score points with 3 star QBs and 3 star quick WRs through his scheme. but on the flip side of that coin, 3 star DBs cant hang with 5 star WRs and 3 star LBs cant run down 5 star RBs

Agreed. These schemes make the talent gap not as impactful. Where as defense even the best scheme can only go so far without the horses.

On offense you have the advantage.
You know where youre going, the D doesnt.
You can create mismatches and get LBs on your WRs ect
You can have your OL dbl team the DT at the POA

The Defense, you need studs no matter how great of a defensive mind you are. Saban still reels in 5 star LBs for a reason

They have ~2,000 yards of passing and have thrown 23 touchdowns in 4 games. They have more touchdowns passing than our team has in either rushing or passing combined.

Just for fun: Their QB threw more touchdowns in the UCLA game than our team has in 4 entire games.

If something bad happened to Mullen tomorrow, I would be absolutely thrilled to have Mike Leach come to Gainesville and coach us. Can you imagine trying to stop, on any given play:

Grimes, Pitts, Cleveland, Toney and Jefferson?

Any mixture of our receivers would be terrifying.

Florida’s passing offense is also ranked 27th nationally and 4th in the SEC. UF and Washington State are the only FBS teams with six receivers with 5+ catches and 100+ yards. Van Jefferson, Trevon Grimes, Kyle Pitts, Josh Hammond, Freddie Swain and Tyrie Cleveland make that list.

Well, we re in some company with Wazzou

Leach is great coach, and I'm far from a pimple-faced kid.

Most people I see criticizing Leach tend to know jack and shite about just how little he's working with at Wazzou (mid-40s recruiting classes every year) or how incredible it was that he ever got TTU to point where OU and Texas actually dreaded playing him every year. I was in Texas those years, and it galled the hell out of Texas that TTU was no longer basically a rent-a-win for them.

Nah, most of y'all check in for his yearly heartbreaker, mutter "defense wins championships" to yourselves, and that's about as much thought as you put into it, furthered evidenced by the fact that Wazzou has actually played decent defense in the past couple of years and guys like you are oblivious to that fact.

I'm mean, seriously, read the guy's book. Part of the reason he runs the Air Raid is to make up for the recruiting straights he found himself in at TTU. Considering Lubbock is easier to recruit to than Pullman - a fact which should tell you something by itself if you've ever been to Lubbock - I imagine the strategy remains the same.

It's shocking -SHOCKING- that he ever had TTU or Wazzou in a position to contend for their conferences, and it would not be good for us if he ended up at Tennessee because he would beat UF from time to time.

I don't understand how a Gator fan can say this after we finally became nationally relevant due to a pass first system (fun 'n gun).

I also don't understand how ANYONE can say this given that all the best offenses in the NFL now run the air raid. News flash: Tom Brady has run an air raid since 2007 when they had their undefeated season.

Mostly because Real doesn't know football.

If Leach went to Tennessee I would dread playing him every year. He's the type of guy with above average talent he might actually make a team a championship contender. Elite? I don't think anyone could actually stop his offense.

Washington State has won 11 games in one year in their entire history.

Last year. With Mike Leach.

We are passing now because we cant run. If we could run, I guarantee you that we would be pounding teams and throwing when we want to...not because we had to.

Jawja and AU are two teams that aren't throwing 50 times a game...and AUs run game isn't the greatest...but their defense is solid.

I wish Leach would end up in the SEC and then you could see him lose a shite ton of games...but be entertaining doing it. Wash board State won 11 games against who? The pac 12 is one of the worse. I could see him blow a 32 pt lead in the 3rd qt in the SEC against a winless team and for sale signs would be in his yard pronto.

Same could be said a HUNH but Auburn wasn’t at their best when they ran it .Arkansas was at its best with Petrino airing the ball out. You don’t beat more talented teams by trying to put talent them . Ole Miss gave Bama some good games when they were an air raid team.

Just think about what your saying . It’s a big upset that UCLA with Chip Kelly beat Washington State . Years ago this would have been a great joke and people would say that UCLA would be the heavy favorite.
