I hope that game was the teams wake up call game or come to Jesus meeting so to speak. Better to have it now then to have it later during SEC play.

Simply put were not as great as were against NMSU but were not as bad as we were against ECU. I think we are somewhere in the middle.

Some observations after 2 games.

QBs - Grier has the better arm, quicker release and sees the field better. Sometimes his decisions just irk me. He trust his arm too much and that leads to bad decisions. Some of the throws he has made would be ints against SEC defenses but it seems as if the offense is more dynamic when he is in the game. End it by saying this, if we go with Grier we are gonna lose some games because of him but were gonna win some. Its gonna be bad Rex good Rex with him (after all he is a freshman).

I will give Treon his due. IF and I say IF the oline can gel somehow by the UT game we could win the east with him this year. The kids has just got that "it" factor. He cant make all the throws but he can move the offense down the field.

Oline - said it last week and will say it again. I am surprised at how ahead of the game they are at pass blocking and how far behind they are at run blocking. Its not because the box is being stacked either. They cant generate a push of any kind right now. Ivey should help the run game.

RB - Cronkrite is our best RB right now. He is even better a pass protection then Taylor.

WR - At least they are not dropping the ball anymore.

TE - Goolsby and Lewis are gonna make some DC's have some sleepless nights this year.

Entire defense - Just gonna say this it takes a drive our 2 for them to figure things out but once they get a feel for what the offense is doing they shut it down. Bullard is just damn nasty this year. Losing Anzalone is gonna hurt, he is our best linebacker in coverage. Secondary will be great again once we get everyone back. Jarrad Davis is a beast at linebacker when it comes to straight up hitting and tackling.

Special teams - Townsends a good punter, Hardin is good at kickoffs but their needs be open tryouts on campus for field goal kicking at this point.

ECU shredded Florida over the middle later the final two drives. The LB's are terrible in zone coverage right now and the back up safeties weren't helping much.

Worried about the safeties mainly.

Actually I've been quite impressed with our LBs. Supposedly we were in much worser shape coming into the season with that group, but while they've had miscues, they've played better than I expected.

Hopefully the Anzalone thing isn't too serious.

We gave up 346 passing yards to ECU...

Dobbs, Kelly, and Mauk will shred us if we don't shore that up quickly.

That tends to happen against an air raid offense. They threw for over 400 last year when the secondary was at full strength.

Simply put? NMS is not close to being as good as ECU was in talent and defense.

Our defense is lethal and is our only hope against UK. We need turnovers and we need our two starters back at safety. Neal & Maye are the best safeties. We have lots of depth thank God..Poole, Quincy, Marcell, Washington, Duke, etc etc to go along with Tabor & Hargreaves. Teams will be forced to throw against us because of our DL & LBs. Most of the time we will play with two LBs and sometimes just one because of the extra DBs needed to defend passes.

Im hoping Hardin just had a bad night....we are going to need FG to win a game this year.

I dont know why Worton isnt getting the ball? He, DRob, Callaway, Powell & TEs are going to really help this offense. UK is a step up from ECU and will play inspired to beat us. Their defense isnt that deep and we can exploit them....but our defense has to get turnovers to help offense with short fields.

QBs I will let coaches decide....Im good with either one...but lean to Treon right now. We get out of Lexvegas with a W...we may have a great run...have UT & Ole Miss at home.

Shutting down Boom Williams will be key. They rely on their run game and our rush D is stout.

Agreed. There seems to be a big drop off after Neal and Maye. It will help a lot having them both on the field against UK.
