The secondary is just so good. Even though Iowa had a pretty effective day on the ground they just had no chance on passing plays, and that pretty much guaranteed they weren't going to score a lot.

The Mark Thompson TD and the goal line stand really won UF the game. Iowa was not the kind of team that UF was going to be able to come back on, and I think Iowa probably regrets not running the ball more, even once they fell behind. Iowa had no chance once UF had a lead.

I think Shannon showed what a great DC he can be. Just think if he had been the head guy all year with the starters on this defense.

This team played with a lot of fire, and that was something I was specifically worried about coming in, so it was nice to see that Mac could motivate the team for a bowl game. I was worried about that after last year.

The offense still has a long way to go. The TE's struggle catching and blocking, there isn't a leader at QB, and the OL can't run block to save their lives most of the time, but there are certainly enough pieces on the roster to give you hope going in to next year.

It'll be interesting to see how recruiting goes the rest of this cycle and who all goes pro. That will determine a lot about how the defense is next year, because if everyone goes pro the defense will be relying on new faces up front and in the secondary.

Just got back home and it IS Great To Be a Florida Gator!

First of all, hats off to Appleby for all the shite he has taken from so called "fans" who wouldnt know a football if it was inside their arse. Both of his picks were not his fault...Fulwood just cant do anything but really block for other WRs...he tipped it for the pick but had both hands on the ball. The other pick was the result of a tipped pass at the line of scrimmage and wouldnt happen if the OL would engage that defender and keep him from leaping up.

Second...MY MAN Mark Thompson broke the game open with that 85 yd screen pass. Iowa is tougher than a 5 dollar steak and tough as hell to run against. Credit Nuss & staff for scheming run some plays that work to spring Scarlett Z& Perine loose once in a while. Pass protection was good except for TE blocking and I have made comments before that we need a REALLY good tight end with size and speed to help block. Goolsby was over powered on that sewcond block by a safety and thats inexcusable. We need a TE who is at least 255 lbs 6'5 or 6'6".

Third our kicking game is the best in the country and will be next year. Awesome to watch.

Here is who we missed on defense today....Jarrad Davis, Anzalone, Nick Washington, Marcus Maye, Jordan Sherit, Cox jr, David Reese and then we had Kylan Johnson hurt early and Christian Garcia, a walk on, had to play at LB.

Chauncey Gardner is a special player and take a good luck...we only are going to see him 2 more years. Marcell Harris is a senior next year and man has he turned on his game! Vosean Joseph is a special player also and loves to hit....and hit hard!

Fourth, Offense will have Calloway & Cleveland back and if Dre Massey can flash the goods...look out in 2017. Ivy really started getting to be a force on the line and with everybody probably back from the OL....we good there. I see a brighter future coming. Mac will start to win over some negative nellie that I see a lot of on other boards and Im downvoting their azzs every chance I get

Just remember this: we beat the team that beat the team!

i think with this class coming in the OL will be much improved next year. We shore up the run blocking and our backfield can break a defenses will, all them boys run hard.
I really enjoyed watching the young defenders play their butts off for the more aggressive DC Shannon. Hopefully he gets the job

With a steady QB, Cleveland and Callaway will be deadly next season.

Im so glad we won big.

Now the real fans can enjoy the offseason without the drum beating of the posers who we know were hoping deep down the score wouldve been reversed.

It's great to be a Gator.

They're in for a loooooooong Summer of optimism, poor bastards.

That being said: Our defense looked better schematically, and although we had less blitzes, I feel like they were blitzes called at better times, and that's a big deal. Finally, McElwain can get himself some actual depth.

Shannon is said to be more Man while Collins was more Zone. But yes his blitzes were right on time, we just need to work on wrapping up.

Solid D nonetheless

Shannon needs to be given the DC job like right now.

I loved the scheme today. Defensive calls were a lot more aggressive.

But it actually wasn't more aggressive -- but it was infinitely better scheme.

It was aggressive when it needed to be, and soft when it needed to be. He seems better at predicting, because we weren't blizing every down like our last DC. We blitzed when they didn't expect it, and it showed so many times.

Gtfo with that real fan garbage. Anyone who invests their time, money, etc into a team is a real fan. It was a nice win against a average big10 team

I hope this bowl win really propels our recruiting. We got a lot of talent going into next year that I want to see stay healthy.

Go Gators!
