If he loves the NFL so damn much why is he not on NFL Today or NFL network. But there he is on ESPN as a college football analyst.

Because he is not a NFL guy , he may want to be but he isn’t . If we hired him and he did really good then he would be a moron to leave us for the NFL where he has been fired twice already. If he really want to be in the nfl then he should be a NFL OC.

he was probably gonna sit around and watch football all year. i think he was approached about the position. he obviously still has some shine from his time as a college coach. i'll also say he started out great as a pro coach, he just isn't much of a personnel guy. totally fricked up what he had going in philly. everyone would shite the bed in sf right now. on balance, chip showed he can coach at any level.

He has already stated emphatically that he HATES recruiting and there is no way in hell we should hire him.

emphatically? maybe he just doesn't like it. most coaches don't. recruiting at UF isn't the same as recruiting at oregon. night and day.
he's also had good defenses when he had average or above defensive linemen, but that's always gonna be an issue in a place like oregon. kelly is easily the most qualified candidate. whether he would come to UF is another matter. might not want the pressure. he has staed he wouldn't mind coaching navy if they need a new coach.

You don't really recruit at Navy...that's why.

If you were in Oregon, you'd fricking hate recruiting, too.
You have to actively compete at every level of recruiting with less things to offer the recruits than:
UCLA, USC, CAL, Washington -- who all have better campuses, more resources and better history/tradition.
Who the frick wants to be a Duck?
If he came to Florida, he might just have to make a few calls and visits, but there's so much raw talent and so few recruiting rivals (FSU is in the shitter, so it's only us and Miami) that even the second player he wanted would be a good fit for him.

He said he hated traveling for recruiting.
Guess what you don't have to do at Florida? Travel thousands of miles to get recruits.
It's why Frost didn't go back to Oregon.
