Kentucky is a fast starting team this year that does not close well in the 2nd half.

If UF can keep it within 7-10 points similar to TAMU in 2012, I like UF's chances.

I think UK is winning 17-7 at half but UF ends up winning something like 28-23.

If there is a QB rotation, UF will be soundly routed. Something like 35-17 or something.

Its hard to know how the defensive depth at UK will hold up. Their DL is pretty good and that means we are going to throwing the ball until they tired some. Their back 4-6 isnt that great. Offensively they will face our run defense and get shut down...so they will throw and throw a lot.

The key will be turnovers and special teams. If we can get breaks on special teams and no flags or just 1 maybe in the return game....I like our chances more. If our defense can force turnovers...we win. If we do not committ turnover, then we win.

I know UK will be playing like madmen and will probably have lead at half to the tune of 17-13 (2 Hardin FGs) and in second half our defense gets sacks/turnovers. I was going to predict UK to win...but I think Coach Mac has the teams attention now.

I have not watched them this year, so not really sure. I think they lost both starting DE's from last year.

We lose.

/thread

We're no where near ready to beat UK. Last year we had home field advantage. I just have a feeling Kentucky wants it more than our guys do. They want to shock the world and end a streak that's been going on forever now. I feel like they want it more than Tennessee does.

Coach Mac was right, with Florida players, there comes a sense of entitlement. And that's at no fault to Spurrier or Meyer but I kind of blame them because they were winners. They just win. And because our guys think they wear a blue jersey with the Gators name on it that they think they're part of that legacy. And they're not. A coach just can't fix it in a week.

If it were up to me last week, I would've sat all 32 players that didn't come fully dressed for Monday's practice for Saturday's game to get my point across. But then, I would be chastised for being too hard on the "kids" and no one would come to play for me in future seasons.

I feel like that's what this University's football team has come to. And to honest, Kelvin Taylor hasn't shown me anything that proves he is as good as everybody makes him out to be. His dad was part of the upbringing of our team in the 90s. But so what? I didn't watch him play in the 90s cause I was too young to care. But what does that have to do with Kelvin? Nothing IMO.

My tirade is over now. I've been running low on sleep and I'm a little delirious.

Cats win by a field goal. Bad matchup (did I just say that about UK?)

Too young in the 90s? Holy crap...that was just yesterday my friend

To tell you the truth, Fred Taylor didnt do much until he was a senior...he also made throat slash gesture btw. But he made a great living in the pros...something very hard to do. Kelvin has God given talent and hasnt completely maximized it yet. Hopefully we will see Kelvin show us what he really can do when operating at 100%.

UK does want this game badly...and I was of the opinion that they beat us...but now Im not sure. The whole episode of Coach Mac blowing up has got their attention and could be the very thing we needed. UK will come out on fire, but those emotions will fade some by 2nd quarter and I think our defense will win it for us. We will do enough on offense to score points and keep us in the game until the defense strangles them.

Pressuring the QB will be very important...we have to make him uncomfortable enough to make him color blind. They are going to try and do the same thing to us and put pressure on Grier/Harris to force mistakes. Again...turnovers will probably determine the winner along with special teams...need to punt them deep and return kicks to set us up.

Will be watching on TV this week and I might be indulging in adult beverages and hopefully I wont throw remote or drink glass at TV

To this day, the best game I have ever seen by a Gator RB was Fred Taylor vs. FSU 1997.

I like this score but feel that it could be

UF - 31
UK - 17

Grier and Cronkite need more playing time.
Grier should start and only come out at the half if needed.

You obviously never watched Emmitt Smith....his first real start came against Bama on the road in 1987...we had just been taken behind the woodshed by the Ibis bunch and looked bad. Remember...this was 1987 and Emmitt a true frosh and National Player of the Year chose UF after battle with AU for his services....Emmitt was from Pensacola...closer to AU than Hogtown. Emmitt didnt get any carries against the Univ of New Jawsey til late in the game. Anyway, fast forward to the next week and we face Bama on the road....Emmitt ran for 224 yds and we killed them.

Emmitt was signed after we had just came off NCAA probation the year before and his recruitment paved the way for UF to regain prestige. We had signed a Parade AA RB the year before, Octavious Gould who was over rated and he gained about 400-500 yds in 1986. When Emmitt stepped on the practice field the handwriting was on the wall....Gould transferred right after the Bama game. His father worked for some railroad company and I remember they went traveling to peddle his wares at other schools and I think he went to Minnesota...but left there.
There is no comparison between Emmitt and Fred quite frankly. Emmitt came back to UF after he left early and got his degree...which he had promised his parents. They were educators in high school in Pensacola and placed high value on Emmitt getting a degree.
Emmitt wasnt the fastest or the strongest RB...but he had something very valuable...desire and balance. His legs were tree trunks. He faced defenses that stacked 8 or 9 guys on the line...we had NO passing game (that would be solved in 1990 when Spurrier arrived).

Emmitt is the all time leader in rushing yds in the NFL...so theres that.

Too bad X...Sure the 1997 game against the girls school was awesome...but Fred fumbled twice in that game leading to 14 points for the bad guys. The thing that stands out to me more than anything is seeing Janikowski the Polish criminole doing the Gator chomp in the end zone after he kicked FG, we were down 4 points and needed TD...which of course we got.

Janikowski ate that chomp for being too premature in celebrating. Remember that that slimey Diddy Bowden joked to reporters that Janikowski was being judged by international rules not US rules. Bastard. He was facing criminal charges but of course the lenient Leon County courts didnt do shite to him. Janikowski continued his bullshite and was arrested in Oakland with the Raiders.

Back to Emmitt...he had a style of gliding and would wait for his blockers....great vision...he would appear to only get 1 yard and when the pile got up....lo and behold he had 4 or 5 yds. Remember he didnt benefit from passing game like Taylor who got a lot of yards on sprint draw plays. # 22 has his name on the stadium facade for a reason. He was 5'8 and 215 lbs....as soph. BTW he had leg broken against Memphis as a sophomore and missed half the season.

Uk 24 UF 10
Both QBs, rbs and oline play bad, along with penalties and turnovers the D can't save the streak. This is the team's wake up call.
