Lol you guys crack me up. It is year 4 for JD and he is regressing. Regressing in an offense that he should excel in. One with a very simple route tree and his OL is keeping him clean. People will make excuses for him because he is likable. Bottom line is he doesn't have the accuracy, nor does he have the mental aptitude to process the game from a throwing perspective. I'm not gonna argue about it.... Year 4, regressing... Turning the ball over.... Same JD.
Why he's regressing is what we're discussing. If he were in a different team, he'd be a very successful quarterback at this point. He's not a pro-style quarterback.
Period.
He spent a few years doing that, and now we have a team that has butterfingers for everything. I don't think I've ever seen this many dropped balls -- even on perfect throws that hit them right in the hands.

Not that this should be at all an excuse, but if the offense doesn't get their shite together soon, the defense WILL collapse like it did last year.
The defense didn't collapse last year just because of the offense...hell our 11th game we had walk on LB and true frosh LBer who was on spoeial teams have to play because of injuries and of course our depth was thin by years end on the DL. Having a 3rd string qb starting might...just might have contributed to our woes, you think?
No one has mentioned Roper...but what do you folks think so far? I repeat an earlier comment I made...during spring/summer/fall camps...it was Roper this and Roper that...constant media attention....now nothing..why? Cause we have fallen on our face...so where are the interviews with him to discuss what the &^#@! has happened?
Inquiring minds wanna know.

I also wonder the same thing. The reason to me why you don't see much heat on roper is because the amount of heat on Muschamp. Plus add in the reports that Muschamp limits the offense it makes you think Roper is being held back. I think the reason we looked so good in our spring game is because we were playing against our secondary.

Im not defending JD at all. I called for Treon weeks ago.
My point is that the defense will eventually collapse from mental and physical fatigue if the offense doesnt get it together soon.
Last year, the defense had its injuries as well, Easley the most notable. But having a shite offense doesnt help matters either.

We are doomed...probably finish 5-7. We settle into a long ten year rut and rarely go a bowl...Foley is fired, athletic dept has ebola virus spread through the training facilties and we forfeit 3 games in 2015. The sadness of it all. UT & UK win 10 straight against us and we have welcome stenciled on our chests.

Straws, wtf are you talking about? He is playing in a spread offense. This is THE offense for him to be successful in. The ONE we all thought he would be successful in. He stinks man, nothing left to say.
It has absolutely nothing to do with being on another team. If he was at any other team outside of Vandy, he would likely be riding the pine. You say "if he was at Ole Miss", yeah, he would be sitting his arse on the bench because Bo Wallace is waaaay better than JD. Stop making excuses for the kid without knowing what you are taking about. This is the scheme for JD to succeed in. Has absolutely nothing to do with where he plays.

We won't know some answers until after the Mizzou game.

What style has he been playing in for the last two years?
Flipping your duty is not easy -- especially when the rest of the team ain't exactly helping you out making plays.

I didn't say anything about Ole Miss -- but do you really, positively, truly, absolutely think that if he were under another program, put in a spread attack with a guy who could develop quarterbacks he would look the exact same?
Most people on this board acknowledge that if he were getting coached up somewhere else he'd probably be pretty good.
The first two years wrecked his confidence, made him jittery and now he can't get settled down. Like I said, getting sacked like 36 times in one season will do that for you -- when your oline is spread, your quarterback is spread, your receivers are spread and your running backs are spread -- and you're running a pro-style offense, you're going to ruin most of the team.

He's being coached up by Kurt Roper. A very highly expected QB coach. He has attended the Manning passing academy for years. There's no light at the end of the tunnel for JD because he melts down in game situations. No QB coach can teach composure. At some point you have to look past his physical characteristics.

In his fourth (technically) year under a third offensive coordinator. Any quarterback under these circumstances would perform poorly. If a receiver would catch a ball every now and again when it hits 'em in the hands, we may have an entirely different conversation right now.

Are you seriously comparing Meyer/Mullen vs Muschamp/Roper?
I don't think you want to make these comparisons.

Leak had Zook for 2 years.

Our program is in shambles, but on the field, our problems pretty much begin and end at the QB position.
Driskel's performance -- today, and all season long -- is pretty much as bad as it can possibly get. I guess I'd have to do some research to back up this claim, but Driskel is the worst QB in the entire NCAA... and he was the number one QB recruit in the country. What the actual frick. I would feel bad for the guy, but then I remember that he's getting laid more than me.
DJ Humphries is an equally big bust. I can't even comprehend how badly we've swung and missed on big recruits. Never have I seen anything like this.
We should not be passing the ball. Ever. It is actually that fricking bad. We'd be better off running the option on every single play.

Our defense played really well today, but let me add that they are a problem.
We are SUPREMELY talented on Defense at every position besides linebacker. We have GREAT individual talent. Like, we should have one of the best defenses in the entire country IYAM. We have good pass rushers all over the place. Cummings is a good DT in the middle. Hargreaves is obviously a fricking beast. Tabor has looked really good in his somewhat limited action.
That being said, our defense has absolutely collapsed schematically, and often. I blame this entirely on Durkin, basically. We have so much talent on that side of the ball, and yet we continue to have busted coverages.. and give up conversions on 3rd and LOOOOOONG.
But yeah, I can't even begin to complain about our defense because our QB, WR, and O-line play has been so awful that it doesn't even matter.

Zook at least had 7 to 8 win seasons. That isn't anything to sneeze at.. just a down year basically.
We are the laughingstock of the entire SEC right now. Mostly because of coaching IYAM. Still, we are a 7 win team with even a bad QB. What we have now at the position is straight garbage.
