That was also with a 5th year senior and a 3rd year coaches son at quarterback.

Considering we haven't gotten 2000 passing yards from a quarterback since like 2010 I think that is a step in a positive direction. If Franks gets that, it will be significantly improved play from the quarterback position compared to any year in the last 7 seasons. Our offenses have been pathetic, and those numbers would be a step in the right direction for us, IMO. 18 TDs from Franks alone means that defenses will have someone to fear, which will give Scarlett and Perine more touchdowns. Also, 18 touchdowns can become 20 or 21 if Franks throws 4 or 5 touchdowns (like he should) against the Northern Colorado's, UAB's, and Missouri's of the schedule.

Those kind of stats from Franks win us the East again and give us a shot against the Alabamas and FSUs of the world.

I don't think we can win the SEC with Raire and he is not the future , so hopefully the SEC doesn't allow him to come to UF . I don't want him because I don't see him coming to UF because he thinks he will be a backup.

How this works out is almost entirely dependent on the extent to which Mac and Nuss are willing to actually adapt their mediocre scheme to Zaire's strengths-- if they insist on running headfirst into a wall like they did with Treon this will probably work out about as well as that did.

Guys, don't be surprised, if he is healthy, that Del Rio is the starting QB in 2017. Fans love Franks but Coaches love consistency. Alabama doesn't win championships due to superstar QBs but they do have consistent, dependable QB that plays within the system. I will pull for whomever takes the field but don't be surprised if it's Del Rio

Alabama wins by having more talent on the field than other teams, if you can't recruit at an elite level you have to use non-conventional schemes to overcome talent disadvantages.

not happening, what school is going to put their football coach on the hot seat after going to atlanta 2 years in a row?

Did you think Mizzou's coach was a badass? Because Mizzou made back to back trips to Atlanta as well- they were similarly competitive in those trips.

Pinkel left because of health problems. The SJW bullshite their football team pulled didn't really help them either.

Terrible comparison.

Lets get one thing clear:

The scheme is not mediocre at all. WRs/TEs/RBs are running WIDE THE frick OPEN all day.

Go back and watch the offensive tape. LibGator on Youtube has some great examples of this under McElwain's tenure.

Nuss is a mediocre playcaller, and McElwain for whatever reason favors Nuss.

Combine that with the fact that we lost Grier because of his stupidity, and were left with Treon, Del Rio, and Appleby, you get a sucky offense.

That is why the QB is the most important position on the team. You hide a lot of defencies if your QB was good.

Grier being both mobile and having a quick release (while making mistakes as a freshman) covered up a ton of Nuss's suckage at calling plays.

Grier is gone because their social media legend wannabe dad demanded a guaranteed start.

Mac could have easily rode out the suspension. shite, he has enough pull to get a real IPF built and James Robinson admitted. Griers dad is a bitch

He would have started, anyway. Which is the biggest bummer, however...

I would've been upset, too, and the downside is that we probably wouldn't have gotten any prospects at quarterback with him around. Maybe we didn't anyway, but Grier just had that poise, gumption and drive that we hadn't seen since the Tebow days. That endzone run he had where he dove was spectacular, and he just seemed calm.

But if he got busted again, we wouldn't have many prospects outside of maybe Trask and Toney, because everyone would know that Grier was the starter -- leaving us with guys who may not be up to the task.
