Not just QB play...freaking strong defense, much improved run game with a 6'2" 242 lb runaway beer truck, better OL and strong as death secondary. Fast Eddie kicking 58 yd FGs to put folks away.

No not at all. The East looks to be a free for all between UF, UG, and Ut. Our D may take a step back, but our offense should be more efficient than last year IMO.

We will be favored once the season starts, until then the Vo11s and UG get all the love. That's OK, makes the butt burn even greater for their fans when UF wins the East again.

The East is wide open. If TN didn't have arguably the worst gameday coach in all of CFB, I'd probably say it was theirs to lose.

Should be a 3 team race between UF , Tenn and UGA. The Vols have a coach that seems to choke and a QB that can't pass while UGA will either have one of the bad QBs from last year or a Freshman to go along with a rookie HC. We get to find out how the offense does with out Grier . I would think UF should be the favorite.

Objectively, Tennessee should be the favorite.

Just like they were last year.

UF has just as many questions this year as they did last year because of the whole Grier shitshow.

I would say TN still has major questions up front and I think they will be run on. It will be another 4th qtr game and I'll take UFs D and McElwain all day over Jones and TN's D.

We have pretty big question marks on the DL and in LB, even with Davis, Brantley, Cox, and CeCe coming back.

Anzalone and Rolin are big injury risks despite being at UF for a while, and if one of those guys goes down, we have a HUGE problem at LB.

And Bullard was such a monster up front. Replacing him is not gonna be an easy task.

Same issue in the secondary if Maye, Wilson, or Tabor goes down. There is not much depth there.

I don't see the question marks on DL, at all. We play a 4-2-5 D, so you really only need to be 4 deep. Davis, Anzalone, Johnson, ?.

I think UF will be fine at DB, as long as Duke plays alright. Chauncey and Maye will play safety.

What freaking media guide are you looking at? Do you KNOW our roster? We can rotate 8-9 guys on the DL and keep them fresh...same DL basically last year except I think we will be better pass rushing. LB? Again as just stated, we dont use 3 LBs often...only in high percentage run plays like 3rd and 1 or 3rd and 2. We good....a freaking possible first rounder to boot? Secondary that is stout. We can reach into the bag if injuries happen...all teams go through that. Kicking & punting? Are you kidding me??

We have talent that is improved from last year's offense even when Grier played...why? We arent going to finish 13th in the SEC in rushing..McElwain did a helluva job with bailing wire and duct tape last year. You just dont win the east or west with that poor of a rushing total.
2016 will see the emergence of # 24 Mark Thompson and we will all wish he had more than 2 yrs to play. 6'2 242 and watch the spring game film and see him not wanting to go down at all and ditto for the Jordans.

QB play doesnt have to be spectacular to enable us to win a lot of games...just steady and accurate. Special teams is good and coaching is superb imho. We are in year two of Coach McElwain's tenure already you can sense the difference. He has a QB with improved OL play, run game, and has knowledge of the scheme...just throw quick to open receivers and we use TEs and RBs a lot in this system. Move the chains and kick FGs if need be. 11-1 is what I see.

2 LBs may not cut it vs. Georgia, FSU, Tennessee, or LSU IMO. Those 4 teams are very strong at OL and they all (with the exception of UGA) ran it pretty effectively on UF last year.

I leave out the Michigan game because the team checked out of the season prior to that, and the Bama game because the defense played inspired football for about 3 Qs and just wore out because of our offensive ineptitude.

Again, I don't doubt our talent on defense. I do question our depth and if guys can stay healthy.

That doesnt sound like "we have pretty big question marks at DL & LB" to me pal. The only question mark I have is your reasoning.

I just don't feel as confident about this year's defense as I did about last year's.

Last year I knew we were gonna have a top 2 defense in the SEC.

This year I am fairly worried that it will drop off some. I hope the offense takes major strides.

If Davis or Tabor goes down who has the skills to fill the voids beside Quincy Wilson?

Anzalone-beast-always hurt
Rolin- Always hurt. Average at best

Daniel McMillan- starting- ok player

Kylan Johnson-S turned LBer

Reese- True Freshman
Joseph- True freshman
R. Jackson- RS Freshman
LBer from MS: True freshman

Yes in theory UF has 8-9 DL it can rotate. That's not a lot in the SEC. Add in injuries and it gets even smaller. Outside of Brantley, BCJ, Cece and Ivie, Clark there's youth like Bryan and K.Davis and a bunch of ?s. Most teams don't depend on freshman to win games.

As for the defensive backfield there's Maye, tabor, and Wilson. Followed by Experience but lack talent(Washington) and talent that lacks experience(Gardner). What happens when injuries or a players gets in trouble(Porter/JC Jackson)

Do you want Chris McWilliams trying to keep up with SEC athletes right now?

Will the DL/LBers holdup against LSU, Ark. FSU and UGA when their tired and injured? I don't think it will.

Talent wise we were there, but our offense did nothing to help our defense after a few games. Another thing is that we had a team chalk full of headcases. I'm so, so glad that most of them are gone and we can move on with younger, more inspired, team players.

I like our chances. I think we will be vastly improved on offense and our defense should still be pretty good.

Color me not concerned as much as X and TJ and they have a fair assessment and everyone has right to their opinion as long as it agrees with mine j/k j/k

In rebuttal I will offer up some differing opines.

Actually 8-9 in DL rotation is a lot when you basically play 4 man fronts. Last year we DID have a lot of injuries on our DL & LB corps...almost every single SEC team will have this happen in some form. Our list includes Joey Ivie, Taven Bryan (just as he was coming on)Bryan Cox jr, Thomas Holley, Justus Reed, Jordan Sherit (who is a lot better than the fans think), Alex McCallister etc etc.

Those were players who missed some playing time and of course we had some play hurt. If not for the anchor tied to their butts called our offense...our defense would have been lights out period. So, in my opinion we will be fine and heres our "list"

1) CeCe Jefferson
2) Joey Ivie
3) Caleb Brantley
4) Bryan Cox jr
5) Jordan Sherit
6) Thomas Holley
7) Khairi Clark
8) Taven Bryan
9) Justus Reed
10) Keivonnis Davis
11) Jabari Zuniga
12) Andrew Ivie (Joeys brother and R/S last year)
13) Jordan Smith frosh
14) Luke Ancrum R/S frosh
15) Antonneous Clayton frosh
16) Jachai Polite

Wheres the problem guys?

LBers, ok the sky is falling or maybe not. We have one of best LBs in country in Jarrad Davis, Alex Anzalone, Matt Rolin (a R/S junior who has had injury problems but healthy now)joined by Jeremiah Moon, Vosean Joseph and our safety turned LBer, Kylan Johnson who has speed and instincts. Not our deepest position group granted, but it doesnt have to be perhaps because of our tendency to use a 4-2-5 scheme a lot. We will recruit more and may go JUCO route also....McElwains a smart guy and I trust him.

Secondary, not as troublesome as a few think.

Of course we have two elite corners, Tabor and Wilson will be thieves and scare QBs. Maye and Nick Washington and or Dawson are experienced and very capable...our roster has some talented reserves, Marcell Harris is a R/S soph and ready to flash talent, Chris Williamson is a project and needs the weight room...we may convert a WR also. Frosh that might be ready is Joseph Putu from JUCO ranks and shaving every day, Quincy Lenton, McArthur Burnett and Jeawon Taylor...so the cupboard isnt bare. And secondary is a defensive position group that doesnt get injured as often as DL or LBs usually. Putu may suit up from day one in the fall from what I have read and heard.

Problems? I dont see any with these O&B glasses Im wearing let the Gator Growl!

We won it with standard (Grier) and then stupidly substandard QB play (Harris). I think we'll be okay.

Grier was very average but for the Ole Miss game and 1 quarter vs Tennessee.
