Literally, at 26-9, I said screw it, and logged on with another gator fan that also said screw it, and played Civ 6 while getting updates on my phone.

That is the first time in my entire life I haven't been able to watch a Florida SECCG from start to finish.

It was just not worth it. Like watching a funeral on TV.

Some thoughts:

--This is the worst coached special teams unit I have ever seen at Florida. And I do mean ever. I said it last year, but AC covered it up a bit with a few big returns. Let's face it, with UF's athletic talent, and the big legs they have, they should have some of the best Special teams in the country. Instead we have gotten this shite for 2 years now. Time for a change there. I'm not saying fire people, but shift responsibilities. Because whomever is coaching Special teams is a frick up, and has been a frick up now for a while.

--Austin Appleby is one of the worst QB's I have ever watched in a Florida uniform. Ever. If he had 10% of his head out of his arse UF is probably winning this game going in to the second quarter. But alas, he has his head 100% firmly inside his arse.

--Alabama's defense was vulnerable today. Play calling tried it's best to take advantage of it from the limited action I saw. The OL also played awesome in pass protection, but obviously couldn't do jack shite on the ground. Still, happy with the way that unit has progressed this year. One of the few positives to take away. Still soft as a babies bottom though - that has to change if UF ever wants to run the ball against a ranked team.

--Lane Kiffin is still playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers when it comes to calling a football game on offense. I don't think he'll ever be a good head coach, because I think he needs someone in charge to keep his ego in check, but with Saban keeping tabs on him, he is probably the best play caller I have ever seen outside of the HBC.

--The fans over at GC trying to pump sunshine up everyone's arse right now make me laugh. I don't know what it will take for them to turn on Mac, but I have a feeling if he doesn't win a bowl game and pull in a top 10 recruiting class, the noise in the system is going to become deafening.

Nighty night.

Youre blaming Mac for
Appleby playing like shite? Sorry you dont throw a Fr into his first game vs the best D in CFB. Mac and Nuss had a good plan, a blind man could see the guys were open.
Had what 7-8 players out? Lost our Guard and then the OL went to shite while the young D did all they could against a top offense

No way we could win the East with a FR QB. No way. FR don't win in this conference you need a roster full of JRs/SRs to be able to compete. Teams like Bama pay off the refs and get lucky. Never mind they started FR-SOs on the OL,QB,RB. We're just a QB away like WM was

I think Strickland will be wearing hearing protection from now till the bowl game. He will be almost forced to commit to a decision tree prior to the game, and to then follow it after the game.

I actually commented that the play calling was ok. Read it again. I thought they did their best to take advantage of alabamas vulnerable secondary.

But picking Appleby as a transfer really makes me question this staffs ability to identify and develop a good qb. Same with LDR.

We'll see what happens in the next 60 days but if they don't get a slam dunk transfer they better hope and pray their evaluations were right on franks and trask.

Its not like LDR and Appleby were good before they came to us, Mac wanted to save his FR QBs a season while the older guys led this young team. Makes sense

Injuries and bad QB play doomed us against the best team in the Country

No, you're not a real fan when you NEVER say anything positive and post all over a Gator board with only negative things to say. It doesn't matter if the team wins or loses, you're here talking about how terrible everything is. There's no way you enjoyed that LSU win or the Ole Miss win last year. There's no way. You're too miserable and too uptight. Relax and be a fan man.

If they weren't good before they got here, why the hell bring them in? Also, I thought this staff could develop a QB? I haven't seen any evidence of that yet.

Their ability to do so with the two freshmen will determine their fate now.

Also, let me say it again - the special teams are a dumpster fire and changes need to be made there.

Let's see where we stand after the bowl game and recruiting.

A decision??? A decision on what? Pray tell.
Mac is most likely at UF for TWO more years...so dont go there and he is not going to be forced to fire or hire anyone unless he wants to. Its just crazy talk after a bad loss. Two SECCGs and two bowl games and the new AD is going to threaten him? Im laughing now UF...come on dude, you are smarter than that.

Are we suppose to be giddy after yesterday? Hell no...but for Christ sake pump the brakes a little. Nothing is going to happen to Mac's tenure for a while and if he goes 9-3 next year he will not be fired. Go 6-6? Yeah MAYBE...but that aint happening.

I think he's implying a long term decision tree for year 3.

Fact is the fan base is starting to turn against the coach.

That means less butts in seats.

That means less money.

Those are things that AD's can't ignore, even if it is unfair.

It's a business after all. Big business.

That's why the bowl game and recruiting is so important this year - the fan base needs hope this off season.

Nord and Collins need to go.

Nuss isn't really the problem, we had WR'a running wide the frick open, but our QB was too busy looking at the pass rush to see them.

Fellas, it's simple... OL/DL/QB. UF needs a QB terribly.

A lot of the DL struggles yesterday were due to the injuries.

The OL played well.

Its always been the QB. Having a good QB fixes a shite load of things.

I do think Nuss needs to go. Either that, or McElwain directly get involved more and call the plays.

Boggles my mind that the best planned playcalling of the season occurs in a fricking blowout.

WTF? Really? The DL didnt have CeCe, Cox jr, Sherit what did you expect? Jarrad Davis trying his best and not close to 100% ditto Anzalone out and Maye, Dawson and Washington?

The defense has been hamstrung by an inefficient offense.

Reel, you are correct with the injuries. No doubt that the losses on the DL affected the defense.

But I think in terms of defensive playcalling, Collins is a significant step down from DJ Durkin and Dan Quinn. Its been underwhelming to say the least.

If we want to give him one more year, fine. But I wouldn't be mad if McElwain goes in a different direction.
