This game has had me worried since the schedule has come out.

Obviously, we look much better than expected, but Lock is a much better Qb than Mauk is.

It's at night, their homecoming game, and we are coming off a big win.

A LOT of potential for a let down here.

Very worried, but I'm impressed with McElwain and what he's done so far.

Yeah lets hope we do to them what they did to us during our Homecoming game. I think the Defense is nothing like they have seen.

If Kentucky can shut them down, we definitely have the pieces to do so as well.

South Carolina has been making everyone look great all season on offense, but they're in for a rude awakening.

Also, this is the best line we've played all year, and we handled bidness.

I watched a little of this game yesterday at a restuarant and Lock is hands down the strongest thrower Ive seen ALL YEAR with a freaking cannon for an arm. I was worried about this game before season started...but not now.

Lock is still learning basics...Mizzou is just not strong enough on offense yet. It will be a tough game but our defense flexs and our offense will shine enough that we win.
6-0 here we come.

Hopefully this team stays humble and hungry. If they do that, they can have an outstanding season. Mizzou has had our number. Time to get that monkey off of our backs.

I predicted mizzou at the start of the season

Now I think that y'all will win.

BUT, their QB may well be the TRUTH - we will find out next week

I wouldn't sleep on them

Pretty fair evaluation.

Lock is far and away a better QB than Mauk. It's no comparison at all. The question is, is Lock far enough advanced as a true freshman to handle a defense like UF's. If he is, he makes everyone on the team better. He throws a more catchable ball so the WR's don't drop as many passes. The OL gets better because Lock tends to step up in the pocket instead of the OL never knowing where Mauk is going. The running game gets better because you can't keep your LB's bunched up on the line or Lock will pick you apart with passes up the middle.

We may be a year away from all of that coming to fruition though. I see a relatively low scoring game that can go either way.

I think last yrs game sets up this year perfectly. Need motivation pop the tape in Mac. We got embarrassed at home to say the least. If Kelly couldn't get it done I'm sorry Lock isn't going to get it done. There is no Treadwell on Mizz. Could they win anything can happen as we proved this year. They have the advantage being at home. I predict 24- 13 UF wins

Different tone in this post on this board than your posts on tRant. More realistic.

You are right that Lock is still a true freshman QB and will make mistakes. Florida's D definitely can force turnovers. Florida could very well win this game...and probably should.

However, I'm viewing this game as one that either time could just as easily win. Florida is MUCH more improved and has momentum. Mizzou has a great defense but their offense is questionable, especially now that Lock has taken control.

Quite honestly, I don't know what to expect this Saturday. All I truly care for is an exciting game that shows Lock growing as a QB.

From a Mizzou fan's perspective, this season is all about preparing Lock for the next two seasons. Imagine how good Mizzou will be with a strong defense and an offense ran by an experienced Lock (pro style QB) and experienced receivers. Lock and several others on the team are either true freshmen or redshirt freshmen.

This is a place of peace and understanding. tRant is a warzone.

The only time this season I watched Mizzou at all was the UCONN game. The offense was garbage and the defense was really good.

UF's weakness on defense is a mobile QB. Dobbs was able to do the most damage but Kelly and Towles had most of their successful plays with their feet. I don't know how mobile Lock is?

Mizzou's Dline will need to dominate for Mizzou to win. Ole Miss's talented Dline did not and Grier torched the secondary. Stop the run, and get in 3rd in long plays. Then get after Grier.

As soon as I heard Mauk was demoted, I knew Mizzou's offense would be 180 degrees better. Damn that guy. He would have been the Gators best player. I'm not sure why Pinkel stuck with him so long but he's a great coach that can do a lot with less. This is the game our young guys might look like freshman. I hope not.

Have we won a game in ANY sport in Columbia, MO? I can't think of one since they joined the SEC???

I haven't seen much of either of y'all play this year, but don't sleep on Mizzou, Pinkel is a wizard who does more with less and loves being the underdog. Good luck

From the Mizzou board...

quote:

UF looked more like the team that struggled vs UK and UT than a top 12 team. Ole miss just shite the bed.

If we limit our mistakes and force a couple from UF, no reason we can't win this game.

Apparently they didn't watch our games against Tennessee and Kentucky in comparison to the OM game

The interesting take will be the outside issues of Maty. Say he had a certain demon and it followed him the past few years. It is not impossible to think this caused problems in the locker room beyond just what was seen on the field.

With a new QB there may be less tension off the field that will affect the Tigers positively on the field. The big issue for Mizzou will be adapting to the Gators week to week improvement. Each game seems to bring a bit more out and looking like the Gators pre Muschamp. While they may not be back to MNC form I can see them being in the Top 10 with a solid bowl bid when it is all over.

This game is the SEASON for Mizzou and they will come out ready. We need to match their intensity and we should be fine. Come out flat and we come right back to the pack in the SEC East.

Our defense will get us the W.

I remember 1965 during Spurriers junior year and we played Mizzou in Sugar Bowl...down 20-0 in 4th qt, we go for 2 points after every TD...and miss, thus losing 20-18. Spurrier won the Sugar Bowl MVP award and was and has been the only player from losing team to win it.

I think we win, but a L wouldn't shock me. I think our D will be hold up fine and give us the W (I like that Lock kid a ton). Even if we do lose, it won't be without a fight, and it won't take away what I think of CJM so far.
