Just wanted to check in on all of you.

Me? I've been retired (about to turn 33 in September) and we've been good and locked down here in Mexico. Girlfriend and I are great, we just stay out of each other's way and have our personal space since we're together 24/7.

How are all of you? Everything going well?

Working from home here in Gainesville. My 2nd kid is due in a few weeks. Just trying to grind it out until I can return to my office on campus. Been tough being stuck at home so much but my yard looks great. I’m in my late 30s. My wife works from home too so we get to hang out a lot which has been fun.

I'm happy to at least hear that you guys are working from home. Me being practically retired, the only thing better is that my girlfriend works at a Casino. The first thing they said is: "We're blessed to be in an industry that can pay our employees to stay at home."

She's been getting her full salary for almost 8 months now.

What are the logistics like for the upcoming kid? Everyone's terrified of hospitals here, they're practical ghost towns outside of COVID patients.

I’m allowed to be there with a clean Covid test right before. No one else. And I can’t leave for any reason or I can’t come back in.

My wife works in big pharma and has an infectious disease background so she is kind of burdened with knowing too much. Given that we are generally nervous but what are you going to do. Baby has to come out lol.

I work at Uf so I get to just keep teaching. We were lucky to be in industries not hit hard by the situation.

A man of anatomy as well? What a catch.

Hopefully the rest of the guys here aren't dead and check in soon.

Is Florida as bad as they said it was in the news? The state, not the University.

Also, addon question: Do you have a name picked out?

I’m also a gainesvillian. My profession hasn’t been effected by the lock down. I do have to take additional precautions because I’m around different people everyday. I do general maintenance for investors, home owners, apartment complexes, and realtors.

There is always someone who needs something repaired. Majority of my work lately has been plumbing and electrical. I could work 24-7 if my body would allow it. If you locals need some help hit me up. If I can’t do it I’ll tell you straight up that I can’t.

I don’t do roofing! I’m too old and it’s too hot.

I'm super spoiled these days.

Mexico City around this time of year has a high of about 78 on bad days, low 58.

I couldn't handle the heat of Florida anymore, I know that much.

My year has sucked...

Only good thing is I'm still working, but this year I have lost an uncle, a cousin and my 16 year old daughter.

Gainesville isn’t so bad. There are places in the state where I have family that are pretty bad. Yes the nickname is ready lol.

What is bad is how many people I see without masks. Literally no shits given.

Home with family in Jacksonville working and waiting on school to get rolling again next month. Got over my bout with corona and now taking care of the other people in my family showing symptoms.

Crazy times, but baseball has been a nice outlet to make things feel normal again these last couple of days.

Sorry for the losses. My moms about to hit 90 in August. She just got out of the hospital with a slight stroke. She’s not the same and needs constant care. We will all make it through.

I’m ready for a distraction in a good way for sure.

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. I know this year is garbage balls but if you ever need some support you can count on the Gator Gang here to help you through everything.

Stay safe.

Most of my (ex)students work from home now and they all said the same thing. They are working longer hours, albeit almost all of them seem to prefer working from home and never want to go back to the physical office.

Hopefully we evolve how we work going forward.

To slayerxing first:

Yeah, Mexico City has been masked since the beginning. Hilariously the President here said that people need to go out and hug each other (literal words, not paraphrasing) in the beginning but everyone took this pretty seriously for the most part. We had a few COVID parties but most people seem to be ready and willing to adapt, much to my surprise.

I had plans to launch a business but have been just quietly sitting on my hands until this all ends.

Our rent is about 160 dollars a month and while we're bored out of our minds (neither of us are actually working, even if we're still getting our salaries) at least we're safe, sane and healthy.

Neither of us have been sick, but several of my girlfriend's family members/friends/teachers have died. In fact, the neighbor to her mom just died of COVID.

This really is going to be an interesting evolution of human life, and I wonder where it will take us regarding reorganization. I feel like we'll just go back to life as usual after a vaccine, though, until the next plague.
