Maybe he listened to Steve Spurrier...or he had Steve in the headset.

Best one to watch after a win like this.

I don’t care how we get a win. JUST WIN.

Football gods wanted us to have this one with the tipped pass completion on the last drive.

We are the worst 5-2 team in the country and I couldn't care less. Gators on top tonight! ??

Ricky called his shot earlier this week.

I didn't expect us to be 5-2 at this stage so I'll take it. The team definitely seemed to come out with more energy so whatever changes they made to the road routine appear to have worked. The schedule is an absolute murderer's row from here on out, though.

i'm not even sure if he called it. it was a completely different offense.

We saw him calling plays on the sidelines.

Got damn, would it really kill ya’ll to give the man some credit
Ya’ll really think as the season goes on and young guys get exp we’re not gonna see new plays / wrinkles?

Apparently Russ Callaway has had more input in the offense that past few weeks (Vandy, SC).

He was the OC at Samford and had a background in Air Raid concepts. Seems like Napier is either letting him draw up plays, call them, or is taking the input and implementing them in his own play calling.

I can’t speak on things I legit don’t know, yeah Russ could very well be involved in the game planning or making suggestions ect

But we ran Air Raid concepts last yr like Mesh and Y Cross, still run em this yr.

I believe Billy is a student of the game who will take plays other teams run with high success rates. You see many Air Raid, West Coast Offense and concepts ran by pro teams in his offense

And like I said earlier, we have a lot of youth in our receiver corps, we’ll see new plays as they learn the playbook

One more criticism among all the joy of the win, Napier has to figure out how to run the clock out at the end of the game with a lead. Shane Matthews has the best option that I have heard. Mertz should roll out like he did, but instead of taking the loss, he should throw the ball as long and as far out of bounds as possible. As long as he is outside the pocket and the ball crosses the line of scrimmage it is not intentional grounding. This play would take at least 6-8 seconds off the clock and not cost us 10 lost rushing yards every time. That is 2 games this year that we should have run the clock out and ended up giving the other team a chance. Of course, this is only if the other team has timeouts. If no, just take a knee.

That would waste 6-8 seconds but it also stops the clock so the other team can save their timeouts. I thought that's what Mertz was about to do on the 4th down play and I was worried he wouldn't run all the time off

The issue was that they only took 1 second off the clock when they kneeled on first down. They should have done on 1st down what they did on 2nd/3rd. If they did that they could have just kneeled on 4th and ballgame is over. Hopefully Napier learns from that.

That's what I was thinking too.

If the other team has time outs they would use them anyway to stop the clock. The long pass just uses more time than taking a knee after a couple seconds.

Oh I do understand that but if there is enough time, say 1 minute, and we use that method then we take about 30 seconds off the clock while saving the other teams time outs. Now if there's like 25 seconds then I could see how that method could work as long as he runs around for a few seconds and run the clock completely out. Lets hope we have to have this dilemma a lot more in the future
