Jordan Travis is really good, but I don't think he makes that play against half of the teams in the SEC right now.

I'm going to start sounding like a grumpy old man. But I coach my kids' teams, played for a pretty good Florida HS team, and played in college.

Go watch the play again. Not wrapping up, not breaking down, looking like they are trying to strip instead of tackle, rushing upfield to create a lane, slow pursuit. Osweiler was a bit insufferable but even he compared us to a Pop Warner team.

Great coaching can make up for a lack of talent.

Great talent can make up for a lack of coaching.

I just think right now we don't have either. Seems like Billy is fixing the talent issue quickly. I'm sure he sees some of the coaching issues too - sounds like he's too focused on details and discipline not to.

Agreed. Outside of the first few series of the 3rd quarter the offense was doing fine.

And go watch the replay. At least a few of those series were on the receivers as much as AR or the play call. We all know AR can't throw a screen pass, but a handful of those balls that would have extended the drive were very catchable.

Also I think we can all question AR's decision making. But don't take cheap shots about "business decisions". That 3rd down run late in the game was as tough as anything we've seen since Tebow.

The offense was definitely serviceable this year. I think most fans just think AR had mailed it in due to some first round grades. I’m not sure we win more than 4 games if Mullen was our coach and the losses against UGA and UT would have been blow outs, as the team would have quit. The defense was bad this year but at least they forced turnovers.

We need more playmakers on defense. Period. We have a couple but they can’t be what they would be if they don’t have someone beside them to take the pressure off. Dexter is dbl teamed most of the game and no one can really win their 1 on 1s to help.

Alright, had some time to unemotionally give some thoughts about the FSU game and the season in general.

This team could have been better than its record. There was enough talent to win at least 8 games. Inconsistent QB play, poor tackling, blown assignments and questionable play calling cost the Gators at least 2-3 games where they were the better team.

The FSU loss was hard to take because again the Gators could have won this game by a couple TDs if not for, I say again, inconsistent QB play, poor tackling, blown assignments, questionable play calling.

Only UG was overwhelmingly better than the Gators this year. The Kentucky loss was on AR. The UT game was on the defense. The LSU loss was poor tackling, QB play, Coaching. The Vandy game was due to coaching more than anything else, not having the team ready to play and the FSU game as discussed.

I give this coaching staff a C- for the year. I expected better and as I have covered the result could have been better.

Going forward, we need a change at QB, AR is what he is, an athletic guy playing QB, He will never be a consistent QB that can be counted on to win tight games. The defensive staff needs to be looked at closely. They didn't get the job done. Poor technique, tackling, blow coverages cost the Gators throughout the year.

6 wins was an improvement over 2021 but not good enough. If Napier doesn't make progress in 2023, he should be on the hot seat in 2024. I am hoping that through good recruiting and the portal we can upgrade the talent, but coaching is the key, I was not impressed with what I saw this season from this staff.

No doubt the defense needs upgrading, same guys who were bad last yr were bad this yr and even our fan favorites aren’t studs by any means. We love Miller but he’s always been a liability in coverage and teams targeted him on key downs.
QB play cost this offense more than ppl realize, many 3rd down plays went poorly due to ARs lack of field vision n accuracy. I believe some of our receiver injuries are from consistently jumping and diving for passes that were off target.
I don’t see us getting the Wake QB, it just doesn’t make sense to me from his pov.
Kitna looked the part in limited action, I honestly believe we can go up from a QB who hit 53.8% on the season. Yes, he’ll have his learning moments but they all do.
Hopefully we get a few portal WRs to help Ricky and a TE.
