Do any of you guys watch the film breakdown every week on the Gator Nation Podcast?

I admit the talent is not where it needs to be. But, it's just inexplicable how bad this defense really is.

The defense is next level horrible, but what coverage / scheme works with little to no passrush?
QBs have all day to throw and we're not the best in coverage.
Ive pretty much gone numb at this point, just hoping for next season to bring some experience / personnel changes

I get that. Shane Matthews said on his show, that the guy doing the breakdown, does a good job, though.

It doesn't take a film breakdown to see what is wrong with this defense. I hope the coaches see it sooner or later.
This is an historically bad defense, coached poorly, played poorly.

Defense wasn’t great when we had Carter, Elam and Diabate
What scheme works when you’re playing 7 on 7? We have no passrush and are all in agreement that our LBs and Safeties couldn’t cover an old lady in a wheelchair

I know they don't look like it. Or play like it. But, virtually every player on that Florida defense is a 4 or 5 star recruit. There are 3 five stars on this defense. Cox,Dexter and Marshall Jr.
There is no excuse for UF's defense to be ranked 131st out of 131 teams, in 3rd down defense. None.

I don’t watch as much as in the past. But I have a hard time trying to figure out how someone can work their way up to a major Division 1 school’s Football Coordinator position, but demonstrate the total lack of knowledge and ability to succeed in it.

I know Napier has come out and defended Toney.
I get it and understand it but we are already 7 games into the season there is nothing Toney can do in the off week that will change anything about how bad this defense is.
It won't be any better next year. Our D-line is probably the worst it has been in a long time. No one is playing well. My only hope is that they can get Watson down to about 360 and see if he can be a better player and hopefully Dexter will be better next year.I know nothing of Hocke as a strength and conditioning coach but for sure he has not done his job with the D-line. They get pushed around every week.
I would prefer that If the db's are going to take bad angles and get burnt then let's just blitz the fricking crap out of everybody we play at least they will hit the qb and make him uncomfortable.

I agree, this team on paper has talent. It seems to lack desire, will, knowledge, pride.

I like Big Dez, just think he needs to be on a lower pitch count.

You couldn't pay me to watch our games again. It's like a trip to the dentist watching it the first time.
