Did Napier forshadow his own failure in his introductory press conference?

"The expectation is to land the 5*s/high 4*s. What is your plan to compete with Kirby and Saban?"


Napier: "Yeah, I think... um... you got to sign around 25 players a year, and I think there is enough out there.

The important thing is you don't get consumed with the number of stars. It's going to be more about evaluation."

2024 class (currently committed) - 19
2023 class / with transfers - 22 / 34
2022 class / with transfers - 21 / 27

i'm assuming he meant 25 HS recruits per year.

Sounds like he was setting a target for recruiting. I guess 25 Mullen specials aren't as good as 19-20 actual quality recruits though.

I think his potential failure came more from trying to do too much too soon and not delegating enough, which will be the case if he doesn't learn to delegate.

Foreshadowing his own failure...I don't know if I consider this that, but what I would consider as an example of that was Mac saying he could win games with Clarebelle
