Got a big test this weekend with the 0-10 Pirates coming to town.

Yeah, with Basketball in the shitter, I'm trying to get excited about Baseball now, but the matchups before conference play leave a lot to be desired

So, this thread is pretty much dead. I guess there’re aren’t many baseball fans, which is evident by attendance.
Anyways, big series against a rival this weekend, one I definitely am personally interested in, living in Baton Rouge. The Tigers are struggling, have been all year against any team with a pulse. Definitely hoping for the sweep but that Sunday game with “TBD” starter has me a tad worried even though our Johnny Wholestaff approach has been money. Gotta wonder if that’ll keep up in SEC play. Pretty sure our bats will show up against LSU’s one dimensional pitching, definitely looking for some big numbers there. If we can play solid, relatively error free baseball we should walk away with the sweep this weekend and I’ll be smiling all week long. Let’s GO GATORS!!

Living in Louisiana makes it tough to watch games. Usually have to keep up on twitter or watchESPN. Will be tuned in this weekend and hoping for the sweep

I love college baseball, rain has been a problem so far this year with me getting over to Gainesville for a game but hope maybe this weekend. I think the team is looking good after a shaky start. Go Gators!

Almost every game (I can only think of maybe one this year that hasn't) has been streamed on SEC network, it's so easy now to catch every game. Now not having the time to sit down and enjoy every game is a different story

I'll admit, I'm not the biggest baseball fan. But if the thread title made a direct mention about it being a baseball thread it might help keep it more active.

I keep forgetting it's the de facto baseball season thread because it just says "finally"

Yeah I didn't know you had a UF baseball thread going, hell yes I am in brother.

Although we fricking sucked arse and lost to LSU 16-4, I think we have a decent chance of getting to Omaha. Sully is going to need to crawl all up in Sproat's arse because he is mentally weak. The rest of the team was soft as Charmin today as well. We will see if they have any toughness to them at all tomorrow.

And change the thread title OP!

This is not a good baseball team. If they get to a regional I will be shocked. Lsu really hasn't beaten anyone with a pulse in baseball this year and other then Barco. This is about as bad of a starting staff that sully has had here. It seems like since they canceled the season in 2020 when they started what like 19-1. Gator baseball has been a completely different program and I'm not sure how long it will take for sully to get them back going. This team had no business being in the top 10 and they proved it.

Fixed the thread title. Was going to just start a new thread each weekend when we got into SEC play, but there really hasn’t been a whole lot to discuss.

Something definitely shifted in the program after that 2020 season was canceled. The program as a whole doesn’t feel the same. You can see it in the attendance on TV as well.

Outside of Barco, our pitching is just bad. They have good moments here and there, but you can’t make it to Omaha with a couple of flashes in the pan.

I thought maybe we were starting to turn a corner after taking a series at #22 Miami, on the road at Bama, and then watching them play well Friday night. But to be outscored 27-6 in the last two games is pretty pathetic.

It’s still early in the season, so no reason to panic. This team is also young - especially the pitching staff. 13 of the 19 on the roster are either Freshmen or RS Freshmen. Going to have to grow up quick though. At Georgia this weekend and then #3 Arkansas comes to Gainesville.

They will be very lucky to go 2-4 over the next 2 weekends. I'm thinking 1-5 but we will see. I see no better then a 12-18 sec record

I don't think we are as bad as we looked on Saturday and Sunday, but really I don't know. Sully seems to have lost the fire he had in his belly. A 10 year contract will do that to a man.

Was hoping we would steal Game 1, but Barco had a rough first inning. Down 4-2 (Top 7). On paper we look like the better team, but this weekend could go either way.

Florida

Team AVG .294
Team ERA 3.78

Georgia

Team AVG .289
Team ERA 4.74

Mac Guscette with a 2 run bomb over the left field wall and we’re knotted up at 4 a piece.

Fabian hits a no-doubter to give us a 2 run lead in the top of the 9th and the bullpen blows it.

Dawgs walk it off 7-6. Needed Game 1 in a bad way. It’s an uphill battle the rest of the weekend.
