Based on your great knowledge of the team and the available QBs, who do you predict starts against Michigan on Sept. 2nd? and do you think he finishes the season as the starter?

I have flip flopped back and forth on this and now believe that Franks will start, take his lumps and be the QB for the entire year, unless injured. This is based on nothing but gut feel.

I think Franks will start with Malik /Toney have a package. If Malik was on campus earlier then I would think he would have been the starter. Mac has been consistent with saying that you will get a shot in practice to win PT/ starting role but not promising being a starter.

IMO that is what ran off Grier, dad demanded a promise of Grier being the starter when the suspension was over and Mac told him to GTFO.

Recent history says whoever starts the year will not finish the year.

i bet mac wish he would've taken that deal. he would've played half the season last year. del rio would've gotten us far enough til grier was able to come back.

I think Zaire starts against Michigan but both guys play in the game.

I think the reigns are slowly handed over to Franks as the season progresses, unless Zaire is absolutely killing it.

Unless someone runs away with the position during preseason fall practice, I think Mac goes with Franks. Why go with a one and done unless he is head and shoulders better than the guy with several years to play? The other thing that could happen is that no one takes the lead and Del Rio starts due to having more experience.
I just don't see the love for Zaire based on his limited success at ND. Again, I am just guessing and have nothing to support anything that I am saying. Go Gators!

Both Zaire and Franks will play. I doubt Toney sees anytime at QB.

I wouldn't be surprised if we saw both QB's against Michigan.

I doubt one QB survives the year, but if they were going to, this is the year. UF has good tackles, so hopefully no one will be hit in the knee this year.

I agree, I think Zaire takes away any chance that Toney had of playing. He will run the packages that were going to be run by Toney.

I hope it's Franks. That will mean the coaches feel confident they have something to develop and have already started.

The coaches will decide who starts and popularity with fans wont alter their decision. I still feel that Del Rio may start the season and we will see others play and develop into good QBs.

Most of you expect way too much from a redshirt frosh with no game experience and has shown he gets too excited and although very talented...that inexperience would cost games. Those of you who thinks Franks starts will be the first ones calling for coaches heads when he throws multiple picks and we lose a game.

It doesn't matter to me who starts...if Franks starts that means he has learned to settle down. The real key is NOT passing...we have to have a bonafide run game...we cannot finish last in the SEC is rushing or it spells trouble. The defense will be very good but not quite elite enough to compensate for 3 and outs.

I have been saying this for a while. Unless someone beats him out Del Rio is the returning starter from 2016.

Whoever the team has the most confidence in should start. Every guy in that locker room loved Franks and I hope it's still true today.

Sure lets let the players in the locker room decide who starts...not just QB but hell every position, that will settle everything NOT.

Memo to Slayer...get you some medicine for that condition of yours...just in case

Hoping Zaire comes in and takes it. I don't think anyone we have currently is the answer and it will help with recruiting if the starter is a one and done.

You cannot possibly tell me you think LDR should start.

I feel like like franks will be the starter but Mac has shown he likes transfers and guys who are older . At some point Mac has to show that he can develop a QB and plan for the future. Using a QB that everyone knows is not the future puts more pressure on the team and coaches to win now .

This would be very concerning. I have to believe that the future QB is on the roster or we are in big trouble. We can't continue to bring in one and done QBs and expect to compete every year for a championship.

Don't think I have ever stated that...better check and recheck my posts/replies.

What I am saying is an experienced QB is important and to have a starter without ANY game snaps? Not great imo. I really like Franks and his cannon arm, but he has a BB gun brain still. If you look at his high school AA game and his spring throws...he is way way too pumped. All that cannon arm will do is get passes picked off sooner unless the decision process is more developed. Spurrier yanked r/s frosh Danny because of poor decisions. Zaire may be the answer...but either he or Del Rio are the safe choices to START early on and get Franks some snaps when a game isn't on the line.

I repeat...fans will call for Macs head after the first L. He doesn't want to lose and take that to the bank. Anybody can hand the ball off to RBs and throw safe passes. Franks is going to be a great QB for us I think....but not quite yet.

Mac will be damned if he starts Franks and we lose a game because of QB miscues and be damned no matter who the QB is if we lose.
