If the coaches dont strive to get talent...then they are criticized...strive for it and get criticized. Makes sense in the sane recruiting world. I dont care if they want 6 more QBs....lets sort through them and find the best.

Mac said he was going to find an answer to our offensive and QB issues...so thats what he is doing. He isnt happy just like the fans arent.

You want as many options as you can get.

They have Allen committed in this class but will try for Stidham. If they miss on him, they will add another 2017 guy. LDR and AA both likely leave. You want 4 QBs rostered.

I think the only logical conclusion is that they do not feel good about the qb situation.

Trask looked good in the spring game but word is that Franks is considered above him now. My guess is that Trask believes he's capable of playing on this level but doesn't see an opportunity coming, particularly with the staff pursuing 4 other QBs.

I think he's going to transfer. But who knows.

You have to have numbers. I think the coaches see at least 1, maybe 2 transfers leaving, plus Appleby graduating. When you consider our luck with QB injuries too...

"Jarrett Stidham tells Damon that the McElwain and Nuss visit "went great and I expect to talk with them again tomorrow and move forward"

Please LBJT let it happen.

looking at video clips of him I am impressed by his quick release....very fluid and very quick decisions froma young kid. Strong arm and no wasted motions.

Franks has strong arm but not a lightning fast release, or as of yet. He has that frame of 6'6" and will still need to develop some.

Stidman if he is able to read defenses well and is very coachable could be the answer we are looking for, and seriously that quick release is what we need.

I would like to know how Butch Jones lands the No1 overall recruit for the 2017 class. Florida wasn't in the mix, or isn't in the mix at this time. Bama was. Butch beat out Bama. He's Oline. How does Bama lose anyone on the Oline to Butch Jones?

Butch is Queen of the Idiots over there in Knoxville. How can anyone want to go play there?

The kid was from tennessee and Butch hired his sister to be a academic adviser to athletes or some bullshite like that to garner interest from him. bullshite gimmicks that Butch has become known for. He went all out for the kid and got him though so you gotta give him credit for it.

I'm ready for our staff to start offering kids girlfriends and siblings scholarships in other sports or academic scholarships to girlfriends and siblings they wouldn't otherwise qualify for. Like Urban used to do.

Like I have posted before....its more than wins/losses that make a recruit decide to go somewhere....sure some will go a school that is highly sucessful, but a lot of other recruits choose a school because of academics, g/fs & relatives, the chance to play early etc etc.

I have posted this nugget before...but it bears repeating, just about six years ago when Murray was attending UGA, they went 6-7 with a young Murray at the wheel...UGA didnt have a great run game then. They lost to UCF in some obscure bowl and yet hit it out of the park with a # 1 or 2 recruiting class depending on which service you looked at. Why? Cause the kids knew they could play early for one thing.

Recruiting is a really unscientific process where 17 yr olds make crazy snap of the moment decisions. Im worried yet about that...about 10 days from now then I will be dialed into it.

Because the kids mom passed away and the sister graduated from UT.

Sister now has a position on staff at UT.

The recruiting visits by Florida’s staff on Tuesday included some targets committed to rival schools.

UF coach Jim McElwain, offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier and linebackers coach Randy Shannon saw Miami 4-star offensive tackle commit Navaughn Donaldson and Miami 3-star linebacker De’Andre Wilder. Donaldson officially visited the Gators last month and they may try to flip Wilder for their third LB spot in the class.

While in Miami, the trio of Florida coaches also visited UF offensive tackle commit Kadeem Telfort, 2018 running back James Cook (FSU commit), 2018 safety Nadab Joseph (LSU commit), 2018 defensive end Kayode Oladele, 2018 offensive tackle Kahric Belle and 2018 cornerback Divaad Wilson.

Florida defensive coordinator Geoff Collins paid a visit to Tennessee commit Marquez Bembry, a 4-star athlete, and 2018 prospects in Atlanta.

Defensive line coach Chris Rumph and secondary coach Torrian Gray went to see 4-star safety Devon Hunter (Chesapeake, Va.) and 4-star defensive tackles Breyon and Brandon Gaddy (Virginia Beach, Va.). Florida is battling Virginia Tech for Hunter, while the Gaddy twins recently decommitted from Tennessee.

Wide receivers coach Kerry Dixon II traveled to Texas for 4-star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (Oklahoma commit) and 4-star offensive tackle Stephan Zabie.

Offensive line coach Mike Summers visited a pair of 4-star offensive linemen for 2018, Trey Hill (Warner Robins, Ga.) and FSU commit Christian Meadows (Montezuma, Ga.). Summers also saw 4-star athlete Kearis Jackson (Fort Valley, Ga.) and 3-star running back Lyn-J Dixon (Butler, Ga.).

Running backs coach Tim Skipper checked in on Florida athlete commit Kadarius Toney (Eight Mile, Ala.) and 2018 cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis (Mobile, Ala.), while tight ends coach Greg Nord visited the parents of UF tight end pledge Zech Byrd (Millbrook, Ala.) and 3-star defensive tackle Alec Jackson (Montgomery, Ala.).

Florida commits in action

Here are the standout performers from Friday:

4-star QB Jake Allen (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) completed 9 of 11 pass attempts for 182 yards and 3 touchdowns in his team’s 46-8 win over Venice. St. Thomas Aquinas plays Plant on Friday in the Class 7A state championship game.

3-star RB Malik Davis (Tampa, Fla./Jesuit) rushed for 177 yards in his team’s 21-14 loss to American Heritage in the Class 5A semifinal. He finishes his senior season with 2,534 rushing yards and 33 touchdowns.

3-star cornerback Shawn Davis (Miami/Southridge) had two interceptions, including a 97-yard pick-6, in his team’s 26-7 win over Deerfield Beach. Southridge faces Dr. Phillips on Saturday in the Class 8A state championship game.

Unless otherwise indicated, ratings and rankings come from the 247Sports Composite.

Annnnnnnnd there we go. There should be an interesting press conference in the future, perhaps at the NFL draft.

No conformation as to if Stidham will visit...the word is that he isnt coming...but in the recruiting world coaches can be tight lipped.

I think we have to look at overall picture and see that we are in the mix for a lot of recruits and are trying to flip a lot of kids. As long as they come for a visit then we have a chance.

Gotta believe that some things will fall our way soon. The hard part is the waiting game and fans get restless and want to hear news...good news myself included. It is like Christmas as a kid...you are excited to open gifts.

I think Truesdell will commit pretty soon. The staff has had to scramble because you don't expect to have 3 solid DTs committed and to lose all 3 within a week. Scott got kicked out because he got too fat, Hansard flipped to his hometown school, and Edwards I have no idea what his reasoning was. But the staff has to scramble to manage to sign a few DTs now. Truesdell is a good start and then we got to get a couple of more after that.

I think some potential realistic options based on what I've read and heard around campus that we have left go like this:

QB: 5 star Jarrett Stidham is first priority, 4 star FSU commit James Blackman is backup plan.

RB: Done there, still looking to find a way to get 4 star Adarius Lemons into school

WR: Expected to land high 4 star James Robinson, in final 3 for four star Henry Ruggs. I don't really think we'll take both and I think the staff would rather have Ruggs (from Alabama) because Robinson has some major off the field concerns. I expect us to add one more to go along with Daquan Green.

TE: Solid there, were done. Got two 6'6 guys committed.

OL: This is an interesting position because we've thought about it as a huge need for us for the last several cycles, but this cycle, it would be more of a luxury to sign a few OL instead of a requirement. We have an elite kid in Kadeem Telfor (Miami has pushed for him though). I think the staff wants one or two more guys but they're very picky about who. Obviously, 5 star Alex Leatherwood is the number one priority. He's an early enrollee and visits Florida last before the dead period. Florida is also trying to flip 4 star Navaughn Donaldson from Miami, he's been on campus a lot and the staff went in home with him last night. Some other options include Michigan commit 4 star Kai Leon Herbert and TJ Moore a 4 star from North Carolina. Our OL returns all 5 starters for next year, but guys like Leatherwood come in and start day one. The kid is that good. If we sign two OL, we will be at 19 scholarship on campus (and about 10 of them with the ability to start) which is a remarkable turnaround from the 6 we had on campus just two Springs ago.

DT: It's been discussed on here that DT is a huge position of need. 3 star Tyrone Truesdell will be committed soon, and there have been other targets popping up around the east coast recently as the staff is evaluating closely guys that are capable of playing at Florida. The Gaddy twins are recent Vol decommits that could be interesting to watch. They're both 6'5 300 lb and one is a 4 star and the other is a 3 star. They could be interesting to keep an eye on.

DE: I haven't heard much about defensive end. We're very deep there right now and we have an elite guy in 4 star Rivals 100 player Zachary Carter. Jarez Parks was once considered a Gator lean but he has since trended towards Alabama and hasn't visited UF in a long time. If I read something different I will certainly come back and update this.

LB: This is a fun position. We have David Reese 2.0 committed in 3 star Ventrell Miller. This kid is a stud. 3 star James Houston lost this season due to a torn ACL but he was expected to have a big senior year. 4 star Rahyme Johnson from Los Angeles is a Gator lean. From what I gathered, we only have one more linebacker spot available and it belongs to Johnson if he chooses to join us and i don't think we'll pursue anybody beyond him.

DB: This could be the deepest DB class we've had in years. Our current commits are elite. Marco Wilson, Elijah Blades, and Shawn Davis are good enough to be a full class most seasons. This year, were after 6-7 defensive backs. We have the 3 that are committed, are expecting to land 4 star Brad Stewart and 4 star Christopher Henderson. There's more guys that are considering Florida like 4 star Brian Stewart, 4 star Ambry Thomas from Detroit, 4 star Devon Hunter, and 5 star Shaun Wade. I don't expect Thomas, Hunter, and Wade, but I think the other guys are very real possibilities.

So if I had to guess here's what my mock class would be.

4 star Jake Allen
4 star James Blackman
4 star Malik Davis
4 star Lemons (if he can get in he's all Gator)
3 star Zech Byrd
3 star Kemore Gamble
4 star Daquon Green
4 star James Robinson
5 star Alex Leatherwood
4 star Navaughn Donaldson
4 star Kadeem Telfort
3 star Tyrone Truesdell
3 star mystery DT
3 star mystery DT
4 star Zachary Carter
4 star Rahyme Johnson
3 star Ventrell Miller
3 star James Houston
4 star Elijah Blades
4 star Marco Wilson
4 star Christopher Henderson
4 star Brad Stewart
4 star Brian Stewart
3 star Shaun Davis

That's a solid class. According to the 247 class calculator, this full class would put us at 4th in the country. But compared to last years class, this would be ranked 11th in the country.

lol that's a dream class not a mock - although not as optimistic as I've seen.

UF will take one more defensive end from somewhere. They probably need a JUCO tackle as well.

None of them are really "dream" guys. If it was a dream class I would've added Ambry Thomas, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Jarrett Stidham, Kai Leon Herbert, Shaun Wade, etc.

I put in guys that have consistently shown major interest in Florida, taken multiple visits, and guys that I think Florida has a 49% or better chance at landing. The only dream would be Leatherwood, and I think that getting a guy on campus right before the dead period and when he's an Early enrollee is a huge deal. We're going to be the last people to see him and talk to him before he enrolls. We're going up against Alabama, but I don't know that I don't like our chances.
