Yep, River Club, True Blue, and Caledonia are all great. The Reserve is good, too if you have someone to get you on there. Dustin Johnson used to play/practice there a good bit, but not sure if he still does.

There are some great courses at Pawleys Island if you're willing to drive 20 minutes. My in laws have a place in Litchfield and it's far enough away from the trash in Dirty Myrtle. I've honestly never stayed in Myrtle, save North Myrtle. If you like fishing, Murrells Inlet has some great fishing spots (Spade, Red, etc), not to mention excellent restaurants. South Carolina coast can't be matched IMO, so you'll have a great time.

Yea, I was curious about fishing. Any rec's on a good service there to go out for half a day?

I love the South Strand, but if you're staying in NMB, you are a good 45-55 minute drive from Pawley's Island and that's with no traffic. You're closer to Ocean Isle, NC than anywhere south of Surfside Beach. If I were going down that way, I'd spend the whole day there. Brookgreen Gardens and Huntington Beach State Park are the best cultural places to visit on the Grand Strand and Frank's, Bistro 217 and Chive Blossom are all great places for dinner.

On the Murrells Inlet side, for golf try The Heritage and True Blue...MB National if you're looking for a techinical challenge and only go to Caledonia if you're ready to drop some $$ and your short game is spot on.

NMB courses are all solid ranging from Myrtlewood up the the Little River and Calabash area courses. You can't go wrong. For the kids, Broadway is fun and House of Blues is always fun. If it's dad time - man up and hit Myrtle Waves. Just get there early. Other than that, get some cheap boogie boards at Waves and just have at it.

You have to embrace the cheese and go with it.

So, just over a week out...will be leaving next Sunday and staying the night around the Atlanta area and finishing the drive Monday. What type of weather have you guys been having? Should I expect or hope for highs in the 70's?

It's rained the past couple nights and been surprisingly warm, usually around mid 60s during the day. Temperature wise looks about the same next week.

You arrive Sunday I assume? It was 78 today in Columbia, but they are calling for 50's and 60's over the weekend.

Myself, I'm not a big dirty myrtle fan.

Although if you want fun, and you're in the younger crowd like myself, Ocean lakes is awesome!

Get there on Monday. Staying in ATL Sunday night and finishing the drive Monday morning.

Sunday is showing cool, but that is as far as my phone app goes right now.

Supposed to warm up a little early next week. Back to low 70's in Columbia by Tuesday.

Let me know what courses you choose.

Wouldn't mind finding something that takes me offshore. Not sure what options I have. Basically I have mornings for golf/fishing...then the afternoons I will spend with the daughter and mom and rest of family. I know in Cabo, most of the fishing I have done there is an all day thing. We stay there for 7 days though, so I can be gone an entire day and it not be a problem with anything. Fewer days on this trip means less "me" time I guess.

Still trying to decide and then also waiting to get closer on weather before I book tee times. Probably get tee times done on Saturday, as I should have a good idea of what days the weather will do what.

Coming from North Myrtle to get offshore I'd check out the ocean isle fishing center. They run in and offshore year round, so they'll definitely be able to set you up.

I hate weather sometimes. I hate playing golf in the cold and I damn sure hate riding in a boat in the cold.

Agreed on both accounts. I've been able to play a good bit of golf this winter, but even I am skipping Sunday. Sub-60 degrees isn't fun for me.

Found some good sushi last night at Flying Fish Market.

What's the deal with all the Canadians?
