Would have at least hoped that the shitty banner of him on the stadium got taken down before he walked out of the program.....guess not.

That may explain Blackshear's twitter posts too....

I expected him to retire sooner rather than later. Just not mid way through the season.

I'm sorry to say this but I just don't see y'all making a bowl game this season. I can't imagine what the players are feeling like right now.

Hasn't this board been begging for Spurrier to call it quits so that we me start the rebuilding process?

Most have known this for a week. For us to make a bowl we had to beat Mizzou.

Most are just wondering if we finish 4-8, 3-9 or 2-10.

I'm leaning towards 2-10

You don't have to apologize. We've known this for a while.

I haven't posted anything about it....haven't posted much at all lately, really. I'm not the type to call for coaches to quit or players to leave, etc.

I was concerned for quite a while - even while we were still winning 11-game seasons - because our staff wasn't doing anything on the recruiting trail to capitalize on the unprecedented success, like I feel most every other SEC program would have.

Even Vanderbilt would have brought in record-setting classes if they had multiple 11-win seasons like that IMO, even without cheerleader Franklin as the HC. USC had moderate improvements ranking-wise, but compared to the rest of the SEC we pretty much sat still in terms of talent level: it didn't matter if we were winning 11 games or winning 6-7 and fighting for bowl eligibility.

And that's squarely on the coaching staff. So I saw the lack of talent headed our way for 2014 and 2013. Still think despite that the talent we did have should play better but it's not.

On one hand, we talk about simplifying playbooks and schemes so much that now the issue is about not disguising the sets enough to keep opponents from knowing what we're about to run, and on the other hand DESPITE ALL THAT, our defense still can't execute the run "fits" like Hoke says, and they still are always out of position and taking bad angles and using poor tackling fundamentals. We're halfway through the season now.

There's way too much wrong and unhealthy about the program right now, so yes even though I don't post much about it I do feel it's time to move on from this staff. I don't rant about it because it hurts too much.

But no matter what, I never hope a head coach quits a team and program in mid-season. That he can't even try to stand out the year and finish what he started, at least for this season.

Spurrier got us into this mess, and now he's walking away and leaving it for someone else to clean it up. If he had just stay to the end - go ahead and announce his decision to retire, and then do his best to lead the team to a strong finish somehow. I'd feel a whole lot better about it...
