When healthy I'd take our top 4 over any other top 4 in the league.

However, that first part is the problem. Mitchell is still alternating between running on land and in pools. Unknown if he will play. JSW was dealing with some stuff and nobody has a clue if he'll play. If I had to make an uneducated guess I'd say both sit out for SC. We have Bennett who is 100% with no problems (yay), and Chris Conley who is at probably 70% with a shoulder injury. He's allowed to play, but has to wear a green jersey in every practice.

When healthy, I still think we're 2nd behind TAMU just because RSJ is so damn good. I do like the speed we have when JSW and MM26 are on the field and Mitchell is so damn shifty that he's a threat to take anything he touches to the house. However, RSJ is like 6'5" 220 lbs and still quick as a jackrabbit.

I'd look for a lot of new sets against Carolina. We we're pretty vanilla against Clemson with the exception of a series or two. I expect to see Marshall, Michel, and McKenzie split out wide a lot in order to really utilize some more speed at WR. We could easily have 3 RBs on the field at once with Gurley/Chubb at RB and Michel and Marshall out wide. A lot of short passes in space and let them try to break things wide open if USC wants to stack the box.

When healthy, they are very much comparable, but obviously we've got a few hurt. I hope the players and coaches underestimate our WRs as much as you do. It'll be a long day for USC if that's the case.

USC will come up amped for this game and give us a helluva fight. If we buy into our own hype and think we're unbeatable, they can easily upset us. We're still going to be missing our 2 biggest deep threats and it's Mason, Chubb, Michel, McKenzie, etc first game in a real hostile environment. It will be a challenge.

ETA: Sorry we took over your thread, Cocks.

Oh don't get me wrong. I'm not expecting to just run all over them. Anyone believing that just needs to take a look at the last 15 years. This game is always close. I just think our WRs are better than he's giving credit.

...and the board in general. I don't necessarily blame you, though. Y'all don't have anything to do besides read press clippings all week, so why not hang here for a while.

I cannot predict anything about the UGa game until I see what USC does with ECU this week. I need to see the secondary tackle better in space, and I need to see someone step up as a leader in the LB corps before I can realistically figure out how USC will perform against you.

One thing is for sure, though. Carolina's offense is better than Clemson's, at pretty much every position. I do not expect UGa to be able to shut down USC the way they did Clemmy.

This is weird. There are more UGa fans on this board right now than Carolina fans. The UGa fans are saying that USC will play close, the Carolina fans expect to lose.

True. My arse still hurts from last thursday. I just came back, and now i think i am leaving again for a week.

I have never seen anything out of UGAs WRs to justify this blatant homerism y'all have. Lot of potential, sure, but it's the same story every year: if healthy.

A&M has AT LEAST two WRs who will play on Sunday. Probably start. I'd be VERY surprised to see any of y'alls current crop of WRs on a fantasy team in three years.

I'd take our WRs over y'alls and I wouldn't think a/b it for longer than a second.

We've got a stud (Roland) every bit the talent equal of your stud, we've got a guy faster than anyone you've got, we've got an All-SEC freshman who can run the wildcat, and we've got a sure handed possession guy who isn't going pro but is a fine collegiate WR. And best of all, none of them miss games (well, except when Roland gets suspended)! And even then I wouldn't name us as having a top WR corp in the SEC. But, yeah sure, UGAs is definitely conference elite.

UGA fans' assessment of their own WR corp is such a sorry case of wishful thinking and what ifs. Y'alls mediocre corp will probably torch our 14 year old DBs in two weeks but check back at the end of the season, that'll be the story for every team we play.

Every major sports media outlet ranks our receivers higher than yours.

Doesn't really matter. Agree to disagree.

Here's to a good clean game with no injuries.

(I hope we stomp the shite out of y'all in WB.)

Yeah, and they all picked us to beat A&M, too.

You got me there.

I hope you're wrong, but if not, remind me at the end of the year. I'll gladly eat my crow.

This is what UGA returned from last year's WR corp:

CC - 45/651/4
MB - 41/538/4
JSW - 16/311/2
MM - 0/0/0

Total - 102/1500/10

USC returned:

NJ - 27/281/5
SR - 25/455/5
PC - 3/58/1 (not a starter)
DB - 33/575/4

Total - 88/1369/15

No comment necessary.

I don't know that them having three guys who had more yards than four of ours helps your case all that much...

But then Nick Jones has almost half as many yards through one game as he had all last year and Cooper has already matched his yards and TD total from last year. Add the fact that they have only one receiver in the top fifty in the SEC currently...

The total production is roughly the same. I'd rather have our guys for the reasons I listed in another post and b/c they actually play.

As I noted, I don't think our WR corp is all that special and most tend to agree. I just can't figure out why UGA thinks their WR corp is all that great.

When healthy, they're an extremely talented group. Justin Scott-Wesley has 4.3 speed, a little slower than Byrd but still world-class speed, Mitchell is a great combination of speed and shiftiness, Conley and Bennett are both great possession guys, while Rumph is a 6'5" 215 lb red zone target. The problem, like you said, is keeping them all healthy. Two tore their ACLs last year, one tore his ACL the year before that, another has yet to see significant PT due to nagging injuries, while yet another currently has a subluxed shoulder. Hard to catch any balls when you're on the sideline.

Gurley is a monster. I smiled at the fact that clemson got beat as bad as we did, but we have to welcome the team that did it in a couple weeks.

Provided we get past ECU ... I'm not optimistic about our chances against UGA right now.

I'm just hoping they get their act together on defense, do whatever it takes to sure-up the DLine, and be prepared for a pounding up the middle by using lots of depth there - 'cause UGA sure looked physical, and we did not.

Mitchell didn't play a full quarter last year and JSW played almost 5 games, yet we still returned 1500 yards receiving. Argue they can't stay healthy all you want, but when healthy, UGA is loaded at WR.

WR is not what beat us ....

1 - Piss poor preperation.
2 - Piss poor execution.
3 - Piss poor adjustments
4 - Lack of leadership
5 - Underestimated opponent.
