I'll start reading it again. I haven't read a Morris article since 2006, I eventually stopped reading The State entirely, unless someone emailed me something of note.

I'll go back to reading The State more frequently now, if they still exist and have good content. Morris was a shock jock and I just really detested his style and bullshite.

quote:

A number of entries disappeared from the paper’s online listing of newsroom staff between Thursday and Friday, though it was not immediately clear whether all the changes were related to the buyouts. Some of the names not on the current list include features reporter Joey Holleman, education and religion reporter Carolyn Click, associate editor and editorial board member Warren Bolton, photojournalist Kim Kim Foster-Tobin, sports columnist Ron Morris, and sports writer Neil White, who had been with the paper nearly 30 years.

I forgot it existed honestly. Gamecock fans did a pretty good job boycotting that shite.

Agreed. It kind of makes me proud. You cant cry about how someone villifies you and yet support them financially and act surprised that they continue to kick you in the balls...

It was more about cutbacks of the bigger salaries than it was us boycotting them.

The State has raked the Gamecocks over the coals for decades dating all the way back to Herman Helms. What made Ron Morris different was that he openly and intentionally went after not just the program, but the coaches in particular ... the two he focused on were both HoFers.

Morris hated Holtz and told me personally that he would do everything in his power to try to keep him out of the HoF. But Lou was a turn the other cheek kinda guy.

Morris overstepped his boundaries and bit off more than he could chew with Spurrier and it eventually cost him ... but the bottom line is that this is clearly a salary reduction move by The State. They are just getting rid of dead weight.
