Something that I think will be overlooked by some is hour penalties butt fricked us last night. Holding against Moody negates an int by King that gets into the red zone. Block in there back that had no effect on the play negates a TD by Fenton. Plenty of things cost us the game. Screwing up opportunities given is one.

Sounds like we suck all around. We are a complete team.

Well ... both of those penalties that negated the forced punt (it was a ticky tac call) and the block in the back (which was legit) are what the coaches call "effort penalties."

Those are judged a little differently than missed assignments and lack of discipline penalties like false starts and holding - although holding is subjective and only matters when it's too obvious and someone gets caught.

Effort penalties are not acceptable but they grade them differently.

I know it sucks but we were on the opposite end of this spectrum in the vandy game. Going into this season we knew it wasn't going to be pretty at times and this weekend is one of those times. It is frustrating to watch at times I know, but we have a good stretch of home games coming up. Our schedule wasn't very friendly to our situation but these next 5 games is where we should start to see some sort of consistency even in losses. If we don't then i will become a negacock as well and look to march on Columbia and demand elliots head.
