Nice read Rooster.

I will add that I was never against the WM hire, cautiously optimistic, but never against it. I was worried about the blowups and hotheadedness and the crazy antics you shouldn't really see a head coach pull. That hasn't really happened. The games can be frustrating to watch at times sure but they are definitely trending upward. The plays are there, we have some stars on the offense, we have some youngins becoming men on defense, and slowly but surely we are progressing.

I will admit that I get just as frustrated as anyone watching our line miss blocks and our defense get gashed up the middle on dives... But every game has been a dogfight for the opposing team as well. Right now opposing fans may see us as a "W" on their schedule but opposing coaches see a waiting dogfight that could go horribly wrong on their end if they cant keep their guys focused. We seem to be getting stronger as the year goes along as well.

I still feel we snakebite a team that we are supposed to lose to and end at 6-6 and with our overall youth we have this same group of guys for 3-4 years with the ability to set up a reloading scenario through recruiting. Muschamp has a really good scenario to build a strong program and his legacy.

mUSChamp has a stigma right now that he is going to have to overcome. He's got the "no offense" thing going-on. I hope he got the right guy in Roper. I think they made the right move, regardless of how the rest of the season timed-out, in pulling the redshirt off of Bentley. It helps getting Rico on the field as well. Plus we're healthier.

If mUSChamp can overcome this perceived problem he has with offenses (one I cannot quite understand because he interferes very little with the offense except for command decisions - and he's not a gambler in that regard) ... but if he can overcome the negative perception with the offense he might turn out to be a really solid long term coach.

With that said it would be great if we beat Mizzou and Western Carolina and somehow manage to pull off an upset against Tennessee or at Florida or at Clemson. But we need to keep playing tough, keep showing enthusiasm and energy ... if his staff and he can keep showing improvement then we've got a good chance to bounce back sooner rather than later.

If we finish with a Top 15 class come February that would be a major plus as well. Top 10 looks a little out of reach this year but there could be plenty of those in years to come.

Oh, BTW, Dabo at Clemson ... they're cheating their asses off up there and that was brought to Spurrier's attention I know that for a fact ... and he wasn't about to play that game and risk destroying his legacy that late in his career, although there were some who wanted to fight fire with fire. Anyways, I just wanted to touch on the Clemson thing. frick Dabo's hypocritical lyin' cheatin' Mr. Religious church goin' arse. He uses church for all the wrong reasons.

This is the 10,000' foot view but IMHO, one reason we got Muschamp was the fact he is a defensive guru, and for the previous two seasons in Columbia our defenses had been awful.

We knew what we were buying and now we're having to pay for it.

Even if it was UMASS, last Saturday made me hopeful....

When I first heard the rumors Bentley was going to be playing, I was thinking we were shooting ourselves in the foot. After a day of thinking about it, I changed my tune and realized it was 100% the right move for the very reason you pointed out. One axiom that I firmly believe in is that perception is reality, and the perception of Muschamp is that he stifles and runs very conservative offenses. Our season was feeding right into that narrative, and it was going to be used to hammer us on the recruiting trail for this year and more importantly, next year's class. We had to take the chance that Bentley would provide a more dynamic offense and not worry about possibly wasting one of his years. Changing the perception was more important to our future than any one player's single year of eligibility. Once Orth again proved he was deficient at qb, and BMac showed he wasn't ready to be the guy just yet, we had to play all the cards we had to put out an effective offense.

I give the coaches credit for not playing it safe and saving him. It may not lead to any more wins than we would have had otherwise, but it looks as if it will at least show that our offense will be attacking and dynamic. Offensive recruits need to see that before they'd be ready to consider coming here, imo. That decision gives me a lot of hope for the staff we have now.
