Not sure how much truth there is to this, but it is making its rounds at warp speed.

quote:

Kurt Roper, South Carolina's offensive coordinator announced today at a press conference that he would be stepping down from his position. Roper said he will remain with the Gamecocks as the quarterbacks coach but would hand over the play calling duties. When asked who would take over the play calling duties Roper responded "i'm not sure".
Word on the street has it that Coach Bentley will take on the play calling role and offensive game planning.

That's too bad. Would've been wonderful if it had been true.

The whole reason I questioned the validity of it was bc there was no way in hell that wouldn't have caught someone's attention before now.

Oh well...keep our fingers crossed that it becomes reality. Soon.

Since Roper, along with the other assistant coaches, aren't available to talk to the media this story is garbage.

Don't worry this will happen but not till the end of the season for a number of reasons. Muschamp mentioned at his press conference today that it wasn't the play calling but the execution. You could say that the personnel on the field during certain plays and not giving Jake Bentley the opportunity to call audibles was also to blame for our misfortunes on Saturday.

Time will tell but my vote is to give Coach Bentley a new title if he doesn't replace Roper as OC. Bentley is going to need a promotion soon if we are going to keep him around after Jake is in the NFL.
