Problem is.. we're not stellar either. And our players are among the last to get too sure of themselves. With thaf said, maybe we do go to a bowl.

Hopefully no MSU fans will show up next week now.

Could you imagine this schedule with our 2012, 2013 teams?

I've been thinking 6-6 has always been possible for the team this year. Really interested to see how we improve from Wk 1 to Wk 2 and how we play at Starkville next weekend.

Would be huge to start out 2-0.

I was worried about the state game after Thursday.

Now if be disappointed if we didn't win. And I think there's a real good chance we exit September 4-0

Our 2013 team fricked around and lost to a terrible UTK team. That squad has no excuse for not playing for an SEC title.

Still, I think Carolina can improve and shoot for 7-5.

In other news, either Auburn's defense is really good, or Clemson got way worse.

Today changed the dynamic for our schedule ... just how so is yet to be seen.

IMHO the pressure is now on us to beat MSU whereas before it was not.

I watched a little of the ECU game today and we had better be ready for them when they come to town or we'll be crying the OoC loss blues like others are today.

Right now we just need to focus on MSU and I know it's cliche but if ever it applies this season is one game at s time.

MSU will be far more focused Saturday. They are in a do or die backed in a corner position right now thanks to today.

I'm not sure where that leaves us (SCAR) but MSU losing today did not necessarily help us. They were a bump ricochet off an upright from winning their game just like we won ours.

State looked bad today. I don't care how angry they play next week it isn't going to fix a bad football team.

Even though they went into halftime up 17-0 they didn't look good doing it and USA had two field goals bounce off the uprights.

ECU is ECU. I didn't see them play today but that ought to be a win no matter what.

Kentucky blew a 28-7 lead at home to Southern Miss. I didn't see most of the game but I caught the end. We ought to win that game.

4-0 going into the aTm game is gonna be awesome

Very true. Their season hangs on this game. They could go 0-8 in the SEC if they lose this one.

MSU is going to be a desperate battle between two desperate teams.

The ECU team I saw today is no pushover.

Kentucky should be in full meltdown mode by the time we get there ... Stoops is in trouble. But I watched their game today and they have weapons on the offensive side of the ball.

We need to take'em one game at a time, hope we've used our extra days to prepare wisely, and hope our offense scores some points ... it'll take at least 27 imho.

I think the pressure on them has drastically increased to beat us. If they start 0-2, they're done for the rest of the year with that schedule. I watched their game, they don't have nearly as good a defense as Vandy did. Their offense all stems and is around their dual threat QB, Damien Williams. Williams didn't even start the game. Some guy named Fitzgerald did and he was awful.

We aren't a great team right now by any means, but our W looked a hell of a lot better than their L. Miss St is really weak against the pass. They were gassed defensively in the 2nd half. This is a game both teams need to win to improve their shot at a post season, but after what I saw, I'm not nearly as concerned about them beating us. I'm not guaranteeing a win, but I just didn't see anything from them game 1 that made me feel like we couldn't beat them...as we've done every time since 1999.

I agree more with the 2nd statement in bold, than the 1st one. I think if anything the pressure should be more on Miss State to win and not start the season 0-2. But I also think with it being a conference game - their first one of the season, and more likely one that they had pegged as one of the better ones they had a chance to win this season (they are in the West afterall) - that they also should have been expected to be focused for it regardless of whether they lost or won this weekend.

But starting out 0-2 (0-1) is definitely the worse scenario for them than either 2-0 (1-0) or even 1-1 (1-0), so we can bet they will try to give us their best effort next week...

State had weeks to focus on a win against South Alabama. Idk that then being pissed is going to change what's wrong with their team.

Their qb the for fewer yards on more attempts than Orth and south Alabama's qb the all over them. States qb in fact seems to pose a bigger threat add a runner than passer. As cute posted in another thread, Turner rushed better against a better defense in his first game than States qb.

Yesterday gives us major hope, but we still have to take it one game at a time. Hopefully our young team will be able to do so.

Oh yeah guys, I totally agree. It's a winnable game - but I've sworn myself to not taking anything for granted this entire season and am doing so with the hope that I'm not too terribly disappointed on any given week in the process.

We can definitely beat them. We just have to improve over last week in order to do so. And we have to continue to improve every week this season because, at least IMHO, there is not one single gimme on the schedule ... not after what happened last year and again not after what happened to some other teams in the league Saturday.

not sure what to make of this team, yet. hopefully they play tight saturday as a hangover from the South Alabama game.

gonna try to take the rest of it week-to-week, but I can relate to your outlook.
