uga is opening up at a -3 favorite. That seems very generous to SC, but those lines are all about driving action and can change.

SC had notable improvements week 2 in every aspect, even our punting and Spec Teams were better than the previous week. However, is it going to be enough?

The uga team from the 1st half of their first game was really good, the uga team from the 2nd half of their first game was much better than that even.

So, how do we beat uga. Our progression is obvious from last week to this week, but it's not like they probably won't get even better as well. They'll have 2 full weeks to prepare just for our game.

What have we shown Pruitt so far? He's probably seen that we have good pass blocking and can heave the ball 40 yards on bombs to fast WR's. He's also seen we have big TE's that will throw jump balls to over the middle, and then he saw that we'll try to spread the field with bubble screens and slants. He's also seen our 2 TE sets when we bring in Gibson and/or Zandi and we roll for 5+ yds per carry. What are some of the new things that Spurrier could have or how could he improve on what he's shown? Spurrier/Elliott/Bubba are going to have to come up with some new looks, b/c Pruitt has seen how we've moved the ball thus far and he's been preparing those guys for a week already.

On defense, Bobo is probably licking his lips at the thought of having a uga QB pass for 3+ TD's in WB, that hasn't happened in a decade. He's seen our pass defense is totally suspect, our CB's are really young and play out of position and then he probably has no concern over our pass rush, b/c besides some decent QBH's last game, we're not doing a whole lot. I would expect him to establish the pass early to run the OLB's and get them thinking they have to help the young CB's in pass coverage and then handing off to Gurley to bolt b/w the Tackles. Our rush defense really hasn't been tested, b/c everyone knows our pass defense is soooo bad.

In order for us to keep this close (w/i two TD's,) our guys our going to have to progress/improve at an even great rate than they did from last week to this week. They'll really need to play above any level they've shown up to this point. We're going to need to force turnovers, b/c I don't see right now us being able to stop uga on several drives. We're also going to need to find some new looks and plays on offense to catch Pruitt off guard. We'll need to consistently move the chains to rest the defense as much as possible. uga would like nothing better than to be up by 14+ going into the 4th quarter and then just grind the clock on long rushing drives. Our DT's are going to need to play an amazing game and tackle their RB's at the LOS or stall them long enough to pickup less than 4 yards per carry.

All in all, our guys are going to need to play a lights out/no mistake game and if they do make a mistake, they need to come up with big plays to win back momentum and maintain ball possession.

Slice UGA's bus tires before they leave. SC wins via forfeit.

We really need to use the Clemson formula but I'm not sure if we have the horses to do it anymore.

Over the last 5 years we've just controlled the clock from start to finish against them. Small dink and dunk passes, lots of running, an occasional deep ball. Keep their offense off the field and limit their productivity.

That has to be the formula for UGA, not to keep their offense off the field though but to keep our defense off.

SC's receivers are a concern. No way our DB's can cover for long. I look for Pruitt to dial up the pressure, early and often. The difference in the second half of the Clemson game was Pruitt mixing up where the blitz was coming from and going to more zone in the back end because we couldn't cover man to man. If healthy, Davis will get his. We have to make Thompson uncomfortable in the pocket to get turnovers. Offensively, hopefully we'll get JSW back at least. If Ward stacks the box and sells out against the run, we have to be able to exploit it. If not, it could be a bad night. Gonna be a great game.

These air raid teams don't test the interior of our D. I think when UGA runs this wknd, they'll find that we're stouter there than on the outside. I think we'll force some 3 and outs and keep it close.

If Mason spreads it around we're toast. If they try to go to the air and he makes mistakes, we've got a ball game.

They win, but look human doing it.

I disagree with this 150% x 10. Hutson Mason isn't going to beat anyone with his arm this year. If UGA has to rely on their passing game on Saturday, they will lose. Expect a very similar game plan to what you saw against Clemson... maybe 8-10 carries for Gurley in the 1st half compared to only 4. I think the game plan is quite simple really for HM and the UGA offense. Take the short passing game that will be open on screens, slants, whatever... and run the football early and often. I see us being able to run the ball at will... and by the 4th we should still have stud RB's with fresh legs. Our O-Line is definitely better this year and they will have to continue to play well for repeat performances. Make no mistake about it... UGA will not come out and throw on every down, we'll run the ball early and often. Good Luck guys. I expect this to be a really good game. I don't give a shite what everyone else is saying. It will be a hard fought game that will come down to the end. May the best team win.

There is only one way SCAR wins this game.

Spurrier has to find a way to make his guys believe.

Our problem is mental. Our guys are unsure, hesitant, lacking confidence.

Spurrier has to make them believe. That's going to be what he focuses-on all week.

I've seen this before. UGA in 2000 ... Holtz took a far lesser talent team than UGA and made them believe. He game-planned well, but it was his epic pregame locker room speech that made the difference. I was there ... everyone believed.

If we're going to win this one then Spurrier is going to have to channel his Knute Rockne. Unlike 2000, the talent is there this time ... this time it's all about Spurrier. It's legacy time. We're going to find out what everyone is made of during the course of this game.

I posted that less than six hours ago when I got home.

Whammy just posted this 20 mins ago on his twitter account:

Physical dominance is what makes you great, but mental dominance is what ultimately makes you unstoppable.

That's what their mantra is going to be all week. I heard it after the game when some of them stopped by ... heard it again Sunday while I was down there.

They're going to be preaching it and teaching it all week and it is our only chance to pull this off.

Score more points than them.

But for real, I'm not sure. If we are able to slow down their rushing attack and force them to throw, we will have a chance. On the other hand, our defense still can't cover the middle of the field so that's worrisome in itself. At least UGA won't be nearly as fast paced as the first two offenses we have faced.

I'm cautiously optimistic so that I go into this game with a good attitude, but I'm not expecting a win at this point. We need to come out swinging and Williams Brice needs to be loud. Spurrier will probably call a few trick plays early.

So now they won't have Rumph, Justin Wesley or Malcolm Mitchell.

That will leave them with Conley, Bennett and Rome as the likely passing targets.

I don't think Hutson is nearly on the level of Hill or Gardner, the last 2 QB's we've played. Now we don't have a huge advantage here though b/c our DB's are not good right now, but Hutson isn't going to put up anything close in passing yards as our previous 2 games. It really will come down to his accuracy.

Defensively, this should be a game where we have 7 or 8 in the box the whole time, except if we are fortunate to get any 3rd and 15+'s. Although, whatever we've been doing previously on 3rd downs isn't working, so we should do the opposite of whatever that was.

I think their RB's are going to run a lot of sweeps or plays outside the tackles. That's what I would do if I were them and I thought that the other team's DE's and CB's were weak. I would try to get the ball in the areas where they are and let my proven playmaker go up against them. Our OLB's are going to have to do a really good job and help contain the corners, while the DE's are going to have to fill a gap to stop a cutback inside.

I'm concerned that Lorenzo is going to play zone with corners to stop just that. Mutson isn't Hill, but if we give receivers a few yards of space while we're looking to defend outside running, he'll be able to hit those easy 7-13 yard passes. It's going to take a tremendous amount of intuition and communication from Coach Ward to the players on the field to decipher what uga is going to run before the snap and then hide our scheme for it. Bobo did a good job last year of calling in adjustments after we set. He'll be watching again.

UGA doesn't necessarily play a slow pace offense. Hutson Mason actually prefers to play at a faster pace. Our game plan was very vanilla against Clemson. I think you'll see some similar formations, but I also think you'll see UGA apply some new stuff that wasn't shown against Clemson. We were able to K.I.S.S. against Clemson because we were able to dominate the LOS.

I do think Clemson is a bit more talented than you guys this year on defense but the gap is marginal. You have a lot of young talent that will improve as the season progresses.

Look for UGA to get the ball in Isaiah McKenzies hands slot more and see more pistol formations to lighten up the box so to speak. Mason doesn't pat the ball. He gets it out of his hands quickly. If SC loads the box and UGA has one on one match-ups on the outside, we'll torch your secondary. We'll see. It's going to be a good game.

Clemson has more experience, sure. In terms of pure talent, I don't know if I agree with you. USC has talent at LB and DT, questions at DE, and a ton of youth in the secondary.

I honestly don't know how this game is going to go. I do think that USC has a better chance than the national pundits are giving them. I hate that it's on CBS, though. Would have much preferred a night game so as to better involve the crowd. Verne and Gary don't know shite unless it's about Alabama or Manziel.
