First time watching a Ray Tanner hiring process?

Seriously. Muschamp, Kingston, Whatever this is.

It's just sad. Our baseball program is in shambles. We're not even competing anymore.

I know some folks in Nooga that speak very highly of Lamont Paris. But I don't want him over Richey. Paris has no ties to SC, and couldn't beat Richey until this year.

McKie or Richey is the pick. Not a great look. But I think it could, ultimately, be successful-ish.

Would Ray ever go back to coaching baseball?

Richey withdrew his name for our job opening yesterday evening - his 'dream job' no less.

I saw that.

Pretty bad when Tanner can't even hire the coach from Furman.

Richey isn't stupid. He may covet the job, but there's no way he would/should willingly step into the role knowing Tanner is as close to a lame duck as possible.

You may get a job offer from a company you dream about working for, only to realize your hiring manager is, quite literally, mentally deficient.

wouldnt that be why he would take it? Our coaches get stupid buyouts and undeserved extensions all the time. You can get a contract that even if you suck, you get paid well for years to come to do nothing

If he's a narcissistic conman like Muschamp or Bobo, then sure. But if he's a coach who enjoys his craft and wants to be in a position to win, then he's wise to avoid Tanner.

I stopped caring

Much healthier this way. Until Ray is gone, why let it get to me?

It’s tough to stop caring
Looks like Lamont Paris

Why am I so shocked, this is just like the Muschamp hire. Tanners drags it out then poops the bed. I have no idea why I keep thinking things may change.

Looks like he's the Anti-Richey. A OK with that payday, knowing he can go back to mid-majors in 5 years a much wealthier man.

Because on paper our last hire was actually really fricking good
Sure he failed here, but South Carolina just doesn’t fall into a Power 6 coach who went to the tournament and won a game the year before

Dragged it out and then hired Darrin Horn 2.0.

As bad as horn was
I’d argue he was a better hire than this guy

Pete Thamel
@PeteThamel
Sources: South Carolina and Chattanooga coach Lamont Paris have finalized a five-year deal to make him the school’s next head coach. Paris led Chattanooga to a 27-8 record this season and the school’s first NCAA bid since 2016. (Reporting with @jeffborzello).

It’s a push for me.

Horn had more sustained success at WKU but this guy did at least win his regular season and conference championship.

Either way, they both have the same “hire the young guy that just had 1 good season and hope to God it’s the rule and not exception!” vibe.
