Does everyone have their canoes and kayaks ready for this weekend? Apparently, this thing is supposed to be something serious. Five Points will be under water for sure.

I saw the models and it sure looks like it is going to be biblical. Looks like it is going to sorta stall over us, in the midlands and out to Lake Murray, but maybe not until the first of the week because it's been sitting down in the Bahamas for so long.

It's raining on the lake right now.

They're predicting 17 inches where I'm at. It hasn't rained today like they thought it would though. The ground is pretty saturated from the previous week though, so even if we get about 10 inches it will be a decent flood.

I'll be ok though, my neighborhood is on a hill and I'm near the top and they blew/steamed the sewer system this summer so we should be fine.

The only thing I'm worried about is 1 pecan tree in the backyard that's leaning a bit, and if there's really enough water, I'm curious if the roots will pull up and the tree comes down. It's not leaning towards any structure though, and the most it could take out is a hackberry tree (which I wouldn't mind seeing gone as it's a bird poop magnet.) I'd be remorseful to lose the pecan tree though, it's having a good season.

This should be a good amount of rain though, and it will be a good test to see if I need to repair any slate on the roof.

They've already cancelled the soccer and football teams' games (I coach youth leagues) for this weekend, in anticipation of this monsoon.

This thread could be fun.

Hypothetical:
END GAME: It's hit the fan, the earth is about to flood (ice caps are melting within 24 hours sea levels are rising fast.).
- You have access to a yacht.
- On the yacht already you have:
a full tank of gas
scuba equipment for 2
first aid kit
flares/flare gun
life preservers
100 gallons of potable water.

- You can bring 5 other people with you.
- Each of you can bring 1 object and up to 50 lbs of something you want.

What 5 things would you want your crew to bring? What 50 lbs of things would you want your crew to bring?
