I'm going with no. Not enough playmakers yet and we will lose the close games against weaker teams. It's going to be a tough season boys.

I think yes.

We'll put a true Fr at QB, but he's a dual threat and can extend plays/drives with his legs. We'll have a better RB situation next year, b/c we won't have to worry about a soft RB fumbling the ball or an inept RB coach who couldn't develop talent. We're young at RB, but there's talent there. Dowdle is going to shock people w/ how good he is as a FR. The same thing for WR, we're young but there's a lot of talent; we have burners in Deebo and Banks and tall possession WR's in Googer and the FR. Jamari Smith is also going to get a lot of plays, b/c he gets open consistently and isn't afraid of contact. We won't be as good at the TE spot, and the OL will go as far as the new RT can take us.

Spec Teams will be really solid again, they were a lone bright spot last year...not nationally elite, but well above par and get the job done.

Our defense is going to be the single biggest turnaround. We have 3 Championship level Defensive Coaches, they'll get these guys going in the right direction and trained on the fundamentals. Our best/most talented defenders (minus Skai) return. We have the personnel to run a legit 3-4 or a 4-3, so we'll give some teams confusion early.

Plus, everything I'm hearing about Dillman vs the old S&C guy is that Dillman is MUCH better and his workouts are much more intense. We lost a lot of close games last year that we could've won. We weren't that far from winning 7-8 games lsat year, but our defense couldn't hold and we couldn't finish any game strongly.

The talent to win at least 6 games is there.
The schedule to win at least 6 games is there.
The championship level coaches to win 6 games are there.
All we have to do now is believe that all the work they're putting in is not for naught, and that they can succeed.

@ Vandy
@ MSU
ECU
@ UK
A&M
UGA
UMass
UT
Mizzou
@ UF
WCU
taters

Unless we're talking upsets, the 6 are going to have to be Vandy, UK, ECU, UMass, Mizzou, WCU.

I think we for sure beat ECU, UMass and WCU. But the other 3 are more toss ups, so it's tough to say we win them all.

I'll be optimistic and say we go 2-1 against those teams, but then we get 1 big upset that a lot of first year coaches at schools usually get, which IMO would be either A&M, UGA or UF. So 6-6.

Fixed, thanks.

I'll add I wouldn't be surprised with 5-7 wins. Anything more or less would be surprising. Really need to start off with a W in Nashville.

Good news: toughest games are at home.

Bad news: won't really matter if our team is shite.

More bad news: For all the new faces, starting 3 of 4 on the read, all in conference will be tough.

First off, how much does it suck that a few years ago we ran off three top 10's in a row and a short time later we're hoping for 6 wins. Ughh, at least Muschamp and the other coaches won't get caught napping on the recruiting trail.

As for the 6 wins this year, as much as I think it's very possible, I don't think we will. The conference did us no favors starting us with 3 road games in what amount to must win games for a bowl berth. A new coaching staff, very few impact players with experience, and three road games... we'll do good to win 2 of them. Will leave us short of 6 wins by 1 this year. I'll gladly take another year of lumps, but I want to see some new guys get to play and get some experience so this will be the last year for a while we worry about just getting bowl eligible.

I think y'all already know how I feel. My post on tRant got more response from our guys than I thought it would, which wasn't my intent. After seeing the annual preseason UT East Champions thread and a Mizzou won't be too bad, I thought it was time for some pessimism.

I was going to call them something similar to that and tell them to go back to CT form all of the sunshine they could handle, but I dunno how I'd fare in the diplomacy thread vote.

Good luck with that next week, I'll be in BFE Alabama. Hardly any signal where I'll be at.

yeah - we will.

USC will win (at least) 3 OOC games in 2016. now, for the conference...

only VU, MO & UTK in the East will return a starting QB with significant experience. 2 East opponents will have new HC/staffs as well. there are a lot of question marks with 5 of 6 East opponents this season.

historically, Carolina's won at least 4 SEC games in 11 of 24 seasons in the league. 18 of 24 seasons of 3+ wins. 21 of 24 with 2+ wins.

the schedule is laughable with Birmingham's just blatant "we don't give a frick about you, Carolina" with the 3 league road games to start conference play. shame on our Ath Dept for not calling out their bullshite too.

having said that, the schools we play on the road are likely 3 of the most beatable historically since we've been in the league. Carolina is 10-2 at VU, 8-4 at UK, and 5-3 at MSU since 1992.

Nashville - W
Starkville - ?
ECU - W
Lexington - ?

we've faired better at Mississippi State in recent visits than up in Kentucky. MSU opens with South Alabama and travels to LSU the week after they play Carolina. MSU will start new QB and return a defense that was 12/14 scoring D in league games last year. last in turnover margin at -6 and that was with Dak. if USC's gonna win 2 of 3 on the road it will likely be the 2 games not in Lexington.

TxAM -?
UGA - W
-bye-
Mass - W
UTK - ?
MO - W

I could see the Gamecocks split TxAM/UGa & UTK/MO at home. we all know our history with Georgia. 11 wins USC, 15 wins UGa since we beat Dooley his last visit to W-B in 1988. W-B has long been a house of horrors for them. Gamecocks will beat MO at W-B. the home game vs the Clampetts may envoke memories of 1992 as well.

I see USC with 5 wins heading to Gainesville and a 6th waiting back at home against WCU.

Highest Probability of a Win:
Western Carolina
Massachusetts
East Carolina
Missouri
at Vanderbilt
at Mississippi State
at Kentucky
Georgia
Texas AM
Tennessee
at Pickens
at Florida

I was the one who called you out. There's some ppl who just troll & thought you were one of them. Just a lil frustrated that u started a thread on tRant saying we'd go 2-10 (yr entitled to yr opinion) but we're already looked down upon & I felt like we don't need our own ppl making it worse. When u really think about it theres no way we win just 2 games. I'm realistic, furthest thing from a sunshine pumper. I know we're gonna struggle to just win 6 games. I just love my state & my university & I HATE seeing anything negative about the USC. Apologies if I offended you or anybody

You're cool man. A lot of us are pessimistic, but it doesn't mean we don't love the university and everything about it.

I have no clue what to expect at this point in time. My liver still thinks I'm an a-hole from last year.

What do you mean by this?

If major Division 1 athletes are hurt or play worse because fans on a message board aren't optimisitc about a season, then should they really be Major Sport Division 1 athletes (in the top conference in the country to add)?

And so do we.

To me, the first 4 games are the key. IF, and that's a big IF, we can start 3-1, then I think we will be primed for a good season. I see it like this:

@Vandy - W
@Miss State - L
ECU - W
@Kentucky - W
Texas A&M - L
Georgia - L
UMass - W
Tennessee - L
Missouri - W
@Florida - L
WCU - W
@Clemson - L

That's 6-6. I think that the aTm game could be a major toss up.

Well, the good news is I doubt we'll be severely disappointed like we were last year. It seems our teams generally perform better when our preseason expectations are low. I'll be happy with 5-7 as long as our team shows improvement throughout the season and our young QB position is solid.
