A few stats that they left off were that Dante's 6.5 Sacks accounted for a loss of 61 yards and his 10.5 TFL's accounted for a loss of 69 yards. He also caused 2 forced fumbles last year. Dante is a game changer and I don't doubt that he's going to be starting against the tarnished heels. Release the Inferno, Dante's Inferno!

Dante Sawyer doesn’t remember what he was reading April 29 when he turned to Twitter to vent. Whatever it was, it made him mad.
“Call me cocky, conceited, full of myself or whatever u wanna call it but I will be the best defensive end come next year,” he wrote on social media.
Sawyer, a Suwanee, Ga., native, is a four-star prospect and a two-time Gamecocks signee. He originally signed with USC in the Class of 2014 before heading to East Mississippi Community College in Scooba, Miss.
He laughed when hearing his confident tweet read to him.
“That’s not usually me. I don’t usually do that,” he said. “I was reading some stuff. I was feeling motivated that people were going to be sleeping on me when I come in.”
Sawyer is still motivated. After training in Atlanta for much of May, he enrolled at USC and started classes this month. He has four years to play three seasons with the Gamecocks.
“I want to start from day one,” he said. “I’m prepared. I know what I want to do. There’s no pressure. I just want to help out.”

Excited to see him play as well. I think he's going to be pretty solid player for y'all. How's the rest of the DL stacking up. Any break out players for this year that most of non-USC fans haven't heard of.

Good. I know our DBs were young last year but I don't think they really had an opportunity to develop with such a pitiful DL that gave the QB all-day to find a WR. I welcome anyone that can get some damn pressure on the QB this year.

As far as incoming recruits, I don't think that any will get on an All SEC list who weren't already national recruits, like Jalen Christian or Blackshear.
maybe:
RB/KR/PR - AJ Turner (if we don't RS him)
or
P - Joseph Charlton
As far as players already in the program who will play more this year and make some noise.
WR = Deebo Samuels (he's going to be awesome)
TE - Jerrel Adams (he's waited patiently behind Busta, it's his time now.)
DT - Phillip Dukes
Spur - Jordan Diggs
CB - Chris Lammons
and of course QB Connor Mitch The Air Raid Cometh.

Probably not .... you've probably heard of all of them by now.
We do expect to be greatly improved along the DL and in the secondary this year. Last year was an abomination. And it's not just the increase in talent - it's also about the new DC. I'll be shocked if Hoke does not turn-out to be a magician, a miracle worker, with this defense.
Whammy was sort of dealt a bad hand last year .... but still, it was probably of his own making to some degree.
Ironically, the big upswing in talent this year is also of Whammy's making to some degree ... as is the new DC.
Does that make sense?
