A sloppy win sure beats a route to start the season. Cooper will be a lot of fun to watch this season too.

Good news is the defense is much better than last year. Bad news is we have work to do on offense. Spec teams played a smart game of taking the touchbacks and free 25 yds. Lots of fair catches. Our kicking and punting were solid. We didnt have any turnovers, and we created 2 redzone turnovers.

Yeah, when one realizes we went from a 5th-year QB in Thompson, 2 senior WRs in Byrd and Jones, plus a talented if inconsistent junior in Roland....to a 3rd-yr Soph. getting his first substantial playing time, plus Cooper and then a bunch of unproven and inexperienced freshmen and RS-freshmen WRs, then it makes sense that we were sloppy and looked bad in the passing game in the opening game on a neutral field.

I bet had this game been played in Williams-Brice, we would've played much better on offense. As it is, 99% of the mistakes I saw - the delays of game, false starts, etc. - are the types of things that can be easily fixed as the season progresses. Mitch now has a full game and a win under his belt as a starter - no, as a member of the Gamecock football team. Hopefully he gets some confidence from this and settles down, and shows a much better effort starting next week...

Overall the OL wasn't bad, but then the UNC DL may not be that good. The run game was excellent and we may see more of it during games if it continues like that, but again the UNC DL may not be that good.

We had again a number of dropped passes from Williams and one from Adams, although Adams did have to try and catch it while falling to the ground. But it was off of his chest. Still, keep working to improve on those and the passing game will be fine. Just hope that players like Cooper and Samuel can remain healthy for the season...

Congrats. Look forward to watching the game in Athens in a couple weeks. The two standouts were Moore and Cooper. Looks like you picked up some JUCO gold as well. See you then
