It seems like general interest in South Carolina sports has really taken a nosedive on this board.

Is this happening in real life in your experience?

Idk if it's apathy or exhaustion. I think the fanbase as a whole is tired of being let down.

I didn't watch the A&M game or the Missouri game. I knew exactly how both games would go. It's just not worth getting worked up over.

I've been a Gamecocks fan for over 50 years and the only time I've seen our school do something extraordinary was when the HBC was hired. Our fanbase has always been sold fake gold and it's not changing. I've actually gotten used to not going, watching or listening to the games anymore and that used to be my favorite thing to do. I have gotten more joy out of watching Clempson fall off the cliff then watching my Gamecocks

Yep.

Combination of them sucking and general life stuff going on.

No point in taking time out on weekends and what not to devote to watching this team and surely not spending money (whether that’s going to the game or even just finding a bar with my girlfriend and friends to watch).

Guess what we will do though? Go to women’s bball games because she loves it, and gets cheaper and free student tickets still (she just finished a PhD), and they actually win.

I predicted 6-6 and we can’t even get close to that. My prediction assumed we’d beat UNC, Florida, and one of Missouri/Kentucky… we aren’t beating Kentucky. Hell we might not even beat Vanderbilt.

Not going to lie, but I’ll gladly state I’ve only watched the Furman game this season and that was only because I was with a large group of people and decided to log into my friends ESPN+ account on the TV at a party. We hardly watched but it’s the most I’ve seen from the team this year.

It’s better avoiding the frustration and that’s why I don’t watch.

It's mentally exhausting. I love my Alma mater. But it's become glaringly apparent that whatever recipe is required to actually win, and be competitive, is impossible to make here. I cannot understand why, but, I also realize that I have no control over any of it. This program exists to pad wins for the rest of the Conference, and outside of a glimmer or a fluke here and there, that's all we'll ever be. Couple that with the SEC realignment and USC getting stuck in the Big12 East next season, and I just don't give a shite any longer.

Football is a fun distraction for a large portion of the country. For SC, it's not. We're Arizona/Purdue/Kansas, but we falsely think we're closer to being relevant than those. And worse, we don't have a MBB program to remove the sting, because "we're a football school."

The Florida collapse broke something in me. I haven't watched a minute of the last two weeks, and don't care to do so. The Portal this off-season will make last year's defections look like a cake walk. If Beamer/Tanner/BOT/SEC doesn't care, why should I?

Forever to Thee, but Gamecock athletics is an abusive relationship that I don't need while the world is on fire.

I’m done caring about USC athletics until we hire an actual AD and stop letting a baseball coach LARP as one.

I’ll attend some games for the social aspect but I refuse to give a frick about this athletics department until a change is made at the top. It all starts there and all of our major programs have gone dramatically down hill since Tanner was hired.

I mean to be fair to these school, UNC has been really good this season (until the last 2 weeks). UF we had in the bag and that one really hurts, but they did beat Tennessee. Missouri is a far improved team, and its where I expect Carolina to be in 2 seasons.

I definitely made the right call just ignoring all the games this year. Almost made the mistake of telling myself ‘it’s just Jacksonville State, we’ll win easily.’

Another bullet dodged.
