I don't know, maybe I just make myself pessimistic so if the season falls a part it hurts less.

Interesting dynamic though about how uncertain and none-too-confident both SC and UGA fans are about this game on the SECr, quite an opposite situation from football.

We're about to go 0-4 these 2 weeks and miss the tourney.

As I say that UK is losing @UT, so who knows.

This shite play on the road has to stop. Every single time they dig themselves in an early hole that they can't get out of. I mean just look at the Bama games just a couple of weeks a part. 20 point road loss and a 10 point home win. That's a 30 point swing with no major difference other than the venue. There is no reason for them to play so poorly (and look so stupid via TOs and missed FTs) on the road.

It's incredible. It's the most Jekyll/Hyde bullshite I've ever seen out of a basketball team. And you can't chalk it up to inexperience; this is a senior-laden team.

This was a must-win game, especially with the lumps we're about to take. Pretty inexcusable. The only solace I can take is that it's damn near impossible to win on the road in this conference.

Our permiter D is terrible. We crash on the guy who drives and leave shooters wide arse open from 3.

Combine that with the fact that we have 5-6 minute spurts without scoring on the road, and it's tough to win.

I read that we were 18-58 tonight which is 31%.

As I said during the Paradise Jam tourney when we beat Hofstra the difference between this year and last year was shooting around 50% instead of 30%.

If we continue to shoot around 30% we will lose. Plain and simple. I thought we had turned a corner in this regard but obviously we haven't.

Frank did warn about our shooting going cold coming out of the non-conference schedule saying that instead of taking extra shots in the gym players had more distractions with school back in session.

He could have just been hedging against our poor OOC schedule though

Frank switched up the D to zone for one possession after the last media t/o down 54-50. uga was at the line and hit 2 ft coming out of the last t/o. Thornwell matched two ft at the other end. USC's first chance back in the zone left Frazier wide open deep in the corner in front of the uga bench for 3 and bumped the lead to 59-52 w 3:17 to play. Chat couldn't get out to defend it.

over the next minute, Dozier missed a front end of 1 and 1, Carrera missed one of two ft and uga got an offensive rebound for a kick-out 3 from Frazier that buried the Gamecocks 62-53 with 1:52 to remaining.

Frazier had a quiet night overall, but scored 10 of uga's final 15 points on two 3's and four ft. his only other 3 of the game came on the play running from behind our bench and hitting a late shot clock 3 in 1H.

USC had chances to change the game at 44-41 (Dozier gave up off board for 2 points on miraculous tip in), 46-43 (Kacinas turnover), 46-43 (Thornwell turnover), 50-48 (3 consecutive offensive boards for 2 point tip in) and just shite it away.

USC was out-rebounded (out-hustled) and out-scored from the FT line. this team isn't built to win ball games when that happens.

Yeah, I'm not expecting a win but just be able to compete and actually hit some shots.

I think today gets ugly. aTm is going to be pissed after getting run on by Vandy, and we all know the struggles this team has on the road.

The only thing I'm even remotely hoping for is that the club will take aTm very, very seriously and actually try and play to that level. That said, the Aggs are more talented, and Frank's boys really can't win when they don't dictate the pace and flow of the game.

Need big games from Dozier, Thornwell, and Carrera to even have a chance.

Yeah, this one today could get ugly, it could. I'm hoping for a pleasant result, but it could get ugly the way we've been playing on the road.

We are in dire need of a couple of pure shooters.

ETA: I'm not sure how many more unforced turnovers, or for that matter forced attempts to get the ball down low that turns into turnovers, that I can handle without getting frustrated while watching them.

And we have got to get back to owning the boards.

Super happy about the win, but damn if we do make the tournament we're going to get bounced for bad FT shooting.

Fortunately the win today makes the chances of making the tournament a lot better for us.

Gamecocks 2-5 FTs, missing the front end of two 1&1's, after the last media timeout.

indeed! Carrera was perfect from the field (5 of 5 from 3-pt) and finished with 20. Thornwell had his best overall game in a Carolina uniform today. his 9 assists/1 turnover were outstanding to go with 25 points.

Gamecocks 22 assists on 30 FGM today. beat TAM at their own game. finished +2 on the boards for the game as well.

How do you go 5 of 5 from 3 pt range a 3 of 7 from the FT line?

Yes it's been fairly frustrating thus far, with the inconsistencies from the team. The way we played today versus Texas A&M, IMO had we played that way against Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia we'd be 3-0 instead of 0-3. And THAT'S how close we are to being 23-0 (10-0) right now....

But no matter: it is what it is. Very happy and relieved we got this win, and it helps cancel out the other bad losses in a big way (not as in, against bad teams because road SEC games are always tough. But "bad" in how the team played versus how it was capable of playing had it showed up in those games). We avenged the Bama loss, and have a chance to avenge the other 2 losses at home as well, so hopefully we do that.

But we're 20-3 now, and 7-3 in SEC play. And that can't ever be too bad....

I couldn't believe Mike and Notice missed those towards the end. We have to do a better job.

Hats off to Thornwell and Dozier. Thought both of them played really well. Pj was great in second half.
