I thought 17 sounded like the right number when this recruiting season started. Really anywhere from 15-18 made sense. I don't know for sure, if Berrios is a take or not. I know we are looking at the 3 you mentioned as takes. Berrios has had great camps and games over the past 5 months, so we'll see what happens. I think he's going to Miami or Kentucky though, but I don't know that for sure.

Now Barrios is coming this weekend for an official? Weird. Thought we would be done at WR when Googer committed. Still think he goes Miami in the end, but makes you wonder.

Yes I saw that too and it is intriguing for sure. Perhaps this may be a case where the staff needs a portion of the season to progress - where they gave some players on roster opportunities to prove they deserve keeping their scholarships - and could be already making some hard decisions on what the class size will be for 2014.
Perhaps it's still in the process, and we're simply continuing our recruitment of Berrios until the situation becomes more clear. But it's kind of telling to me that we're focusing more on newcomers at WR such as Whitehurst and Cooper factoring into plays during games, while other more experienced players like Brent and Jeffery are struggling to get on the field.
Those two were already being looked at as possible "now or never" players, although Shamiere is still pretty young (RS Fr.). Also RB Kendrick Salley seems to be having attitude/focus issues that may evolve around issues with playing time or depth chart: with Williams now being red-shirted, and Scott still on the radar and both Davis and Wilds doing so well and are both young, Salley may be allowing himself to be squeezed out of the equation...
Also reading that both Stanley and Sawyer will be visiting this weekend and some reports are that both could be on commitment watch....

Would be nice to get both those guys this weekend.

Well, there was a number of prospects that attended the Vanderbilt game, but of the 2014 prospects that I mentioned above, only Berrios seems to be confirmed as actually coming. No Stanley, no Sawyer, no Scott....

Jeffrey and Brent are both RS Sophs. So this might be the time for them to either grasp the system and find a spot or realize that isn't going to happen and move on. Especially with two guys coming in next year in Davidson and Googer who are pretty much the same builds. We only have one senior in the WR corps who's a senior and he's a walk-on. Ellington, Byrd and Jones are all going to be going into their senior seasons (assuming one or more doesn't tip their toes in the draft pool). We have a lot of young guys fighting for playing time and those that have been here three years without contributing much are going to have to be in gut check time.

Well put and, IMHO, likely to happen.
The coaches like both of them, but their window of opportunity is closing fast. Jefferies' may have already closed. The jury is still out on Brent.
Still yet, there is time for the light to come on for both of them ... just not much time.

Welp, it looks like both 2014 CB Wesley Green and 2015 DE Arden Key have decommitted from us today. No word yet as to why, but both tweeted earlier this past week that something was up. Hurts both classes. Hopefully our staff can get up with them and straighten things out. I understand that Coach Ward made a visit to Green's and Key's HS game yesterday, so perhaps some thing developed then....

Maybe more twitter drama-queen nonsense:
I think I'll just start ignoring recruiting until NSDs.....

So I just talked to Wesley and he said it was a misunderstanding between him and his coach H

We have options. Some are better than others. It will all work out. Who knows, this might be all part of a plan.

Smart move.
I learned to do that long ago ... we have no control over any of it.

I used to stress over it myself, but its a rollercoaster that can break your heart sometimes. No need to lose sleep over it.

^^^This. A million times, this!!
It happens every year, to nearly every team. A solid recruit gets you hot and bothered about the future with him in your uniform, only to have him put on another teams colors during the next season. The world keeps spinning, the football keeps bouncing... shite happens.

It really only matters to us when we're good and when we are getting commits from the really good prospects.
I remember the first time I ever let a decommit really bother me, and it was the last time too. It was right after the steroid scandal in the late 80s and when the SI story broke, Stanley Morgan decommitted.
I learned right then to not care about decommits because there is zero control over those that commit for the wrong reasons. They usually, not always but usually they, are difficult to contain through-out their careers.
We'll sign others that want to be here and will not decommit in the process.
I never hold it against them, not unless they go out of their way to try to add drama to the situation by making claims of some perceived malfescence on the part of the coaches. Hopefully neither of these two will and instead they will go on their merry way and have happy, productive, lives.
One thing I know about our coaches, and this applies especially to our current staff because I cannot say it has always been this way ... but this staff is so above board, so ethically and morally driven and directed, that this staff I am not worried about, in the least, having done anything even remotely improper.

I like the sound of this. Read somewhere that Wideman's commitment to FSU was a weak as it gets.

I saw that post on the rant. He and Arden Green both confirmed with 247 that they are coming to our game. Also, Arden mentioned coming to this game on twitter.

Wesley Green had a good visit this past weekend at USC. There is a good chance that he will sign with USC. A decision may not come until after the season. Both he and DJ Smith are takes at this point in time.

OL top target Donnell Stanley is expected to make his announcement later today (Friday) at 1 pm. He is reportedly down to USC and Clemson...

Stanley coming to USC!!!! I would be shocked if he didn't. We've led for a LONG time, all the 247 predictions point to us. He said he has a great relationship with Elliott, who is his position coach and primary recruiter. There is just too much information out there pointing to USC as his choice for it to be anything else.
