Damn, I am shocked they stepped up to the plate like this. They actually beat the Nike offer and this is very very respectable ...

Gamecocks to lock in 10-year deal with Under Armour

South Carolina’s Board of Trustees on Friday is poised to approve a 10-year, $71.5 million deal with Under Armour.

The contract represents the second-biggest deal in SEC and seventh nationally.

The previous agreement with Under Armour was set to run out on June 30, 2016.

The Gamecocks have been fully under Under Armour’s umbrella since 2011, after the football team first agreed to come over in 2007.

This was an epic deal for Tanner. He's kicking arse for being still a 'new-ish' AD.

I was told, by a very very good source, that Nike offered $62 million over ten years with performance bonuses but the devil was in the details and the fine print was the deal breaker.

Under Armour stepped up to the plate - they wanted to keep us - and relationships played a key role in us staying with them. We also got some concessions on certain equipment that is going to be allowed outside of the Under Armour brand for the baseball team, et al. And Under Armour made some guarantees with regard to their shoes ... we have had some issues with their shoes.
